Waterman 52V Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX SOLD

IMG_4118

Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

A very nice Waterman 52 V Red Ripple (Sorry, pic is wrong. It is a 52V and not a 52 1/2V). This pen is in fantastic condition with one caveat. Fading of the hard rubber is very minimal. Gold trim is in good condition with just a little bit of brassing on the top of the band and edges of the lever. Imprints are crisp. But there is a crack in the threaded end of the barrel (see pics). The crack has been sealed. I also shellacked the section in the barrel to provide stability. It should hold fine, and you only notice the crack if you are looking for it. The nib on this pen is just fantastic. It is a very easy and responsive Super flex nib that is also a nice soft and smooth normal writer. Free Gift: From now until Christmas, everyone one of my buyers gets a free 2ml sample of Pilot Iroshizuku ink!

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped (Not including Ring Top)

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.7mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Cracked sealed

Conklin Glider – Cushion Point (SOLD)

IMG_4156

Conklin Glider – Cushion Point – (On Ebay)

Another Conklin Glider. These pens were considered budget pens of the time, but were well made and quite durable. The pen is in fairly good condition, but it is missing the gold band on the cap. The celluloid is still quite attractive. There is a little bit of brassing on the lever and clip.  The pen is fitted with a XF Conklin Cushion Point 14k nib, which are considered to be high quality nibs. It has just a smidgen of flex to it. So it’s firm, but not a nail. A great, durable pen. Free Gift: From now until Christmas, everyone one of my buyers gets a free 2ml sample of Pilot Iroshizuku ink!

SIZE:  5 1/8″ Capped

NIB: Conklin Cushion Point 14kt., xF, SLIGHT FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

CONDITION: Good

Restoration Work:

  • I purchased this partly restored

  • Body buffed for scratches
  • Body and trim cleaned and polished

Conklin Glider – Medium Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a great example of the Conklin Glider from the 1930s. These pens were considered budget pens of the time, but were well made and quite durable. This pen is in pretty good condition. The celluloid is still quite attractive. There is a little bit of brassing on the lever, and some on the edges of the clip. The band looks pretty good. This pen is fitted with a Conklin Cushion Point 14k nib, which are considered to be high quality nibs. It also has some flex to it. A great, durable pen. Free Gift: From now until Christmas, everyone one of my buyers gets a free 2ml sample of Pilot Iroshizuku ink!

Waterman 52 1/2V Cardinal Red – GOOD FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_4145

Waterman 52 1/2V Cardinal Red – Good Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is the third red hard rubber Waterman 52 1/2 V that I have offered in the last couple months, which is quite odd as these are these are actually fairly rare. This pen is a great condition with crisp and clear imprints. The gold trim looks good. No brassing on the band or ring top. There is a scrap on the lever, but otherwise it looks new. The nib has decent flex that comes quite easily, but it isn’t as responsive as I would like. The nib also has a very small crack coming from the air hole on the right side. Couldn’t pick it up in the pictures. Free Gift: From now until Christmas, everyone one of my buyers gets a free 2ml sample of Pilot Iroshizuku ink!

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_4053

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

I really like this pen. I hung on to it for awhile just so I could write with it more. It’s a Standard size, black with gold-fill cap Wahl-Eversharp Skyline. The once very popular Skylines were fantastic writers that fit nicely in your hand and had amazing nibs. And this pen is no exception. Cosmetically, the pen is in pretty good condition with the exception of the lever. It has significant plating loss. But the cap and and other gold-filled trim are in great condition. There is some typical light scratching throughout the pen, but nothing major. There are no dings on the cap. The nib on this pen is special. It’s not only very smooth, but it has a cushioned feel to it that makes writing with addictive. And it has some great super flex action on it. As usual with Skylines, this pen is plenty wet. A fabulous overall pen.

Waterman 14 – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_4066

Waterman 14 Eyedropper  – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 14 eyedropper with Super flex ability. It is not much to look at. It’s browned pretty significantly to a light to medium brown, although under the cap is still black. Chasing is worn almost entirely off the pen. It has light scratches throughout the pen. The imprint on the barrel is pretty worn though very readable, and the “14” is still quite crisp. The nib is fantastic. It’s a very smooth Medium that has nice flex all the way up to 1.9mm with little effort. In fact, 1.9mm is probably a bit low. I’ve gotten it to over 2.1mm without really pushing it. It’s a fantastic nib.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, M to BBB (0.6mm-1.9mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Eye Dropper

Waterman 12 – Super Flex! (SOLD)

IMG_4051

Waterman 12 Eye Dropper

Here is old and interesting Waterman 12 Eyedropper. It’s a bit smaller than a typical 12 measuring in just under 5″. The chasing on this pen is worn almost completely off. Imprints are worn but readable. It has faded to a dark brown color, although the cap has some tan mixed in with the dark brown. It is also missing the clip from the cap. I have graded the flex as “Super Flex” even though it doesn’t have the ability to make huge lines. Nevertheless, it is a XXF nib that flexes easily with good responsiveness. Detailed, small print flexing is easy and crisp with this pen. The nib does have a very small crack coming out of the air hole. Too small to pic up in the photo, but it is there. This is a fun pen to play around with.

SIZE:  4 15/16″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XXF to BB (0.2mm-1.5mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Eye-Dropper

  • Pen (barrel, section, nib, feed, & cap) thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly
  • Inside of barrel thoroughly cleaned.
  • Nib and feed ultrasonically cleaned and adjusted for optimal flow

Waterman 52 1/2V – MEDIUM FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_4067

Waterman 52 1/2V  – Medium Flex  (On Ebay)

This a BCHR Waterman 52 1/2 V in decent condition. It has browned some. More of a dark chocolate color. The chasing is worn fairly smooth but still visible. The imprint on the side is barely visible. The “52 1/2V” is worn but readable. There is a little bit of plating on the lever box, but the lever itself is in good condition. The ring top is also missing. Another nib that was difficult to grade. I would say it’s either a high end “Medium flex” or a low end “Good flex.” The nib is very smooth both as normal writer and in flexing. A great little portable pen.

SIZE:  4 1/4″ Capped

Waterman 94 – Good Flex (SOLD)

 IMG_3994

Waterman 94 – Good Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a 94 in a marbled green celluloid with red speckles. The 94 is just under 5″. It’s in decent condition. The trim has quite a bit of wear and some pitting in spots. Otherwise, there is no significant defect. The Waterman #4 14kt. nib is a very nice and superbly smooth XXF that has some good flex up 1.6mm. It is a bit on the dry side, but remains smooth regardless. The ease of flex isn’t quite good enough to make it a Super flex, but it has some decent responsiveness.

SIZE:  5″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #4, XF to BB (0.2mm-1.6mm),  Good Flex  (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

  • Nib and trim polished

Sheaffer Ring Top Self Filling – WET NOODLE (SOLD)

photo 5-5

Sheaffer Ring Top Self Filling – WET NOODLE

Here is the first Wet Noodle I have ever listed on ebay. It’s a BCHR Sheaffers Ring Top with a “Self-Filling” nib. One side of this pen looks near mint. It’s jet black with crisp chasing and imprints. The other side got left in the sun for too long at some point, and it has browned some. I tried to show the difference in the pictures. The chasing is crisp around the whole of the pen. Sheaffer’s black hard rubber is thicker than, say, Waterman’s and generally feels more substantial. The gold on the top has bit of brassing on the corners and a couple of dings. The lever also has a little brassing on one end. At first glance, the nib looks to have a crease in a tine that would be a mark of a sprung nib. However, after close examination, the indentation does not go across the tine as a sprung nib would. It’s not a “crease” at all, but a ding meaning the nib was never sprung but had something ding it from top side. I tried to show it the pics. This is a Wet Noodle nib with very easy flex up to 2.2mm! It works best with thicker, wet inks (that’s P/I Ku Jaku in the pics). The feed is very, very short, so some times the pen has to be up right for a few strokes before the feed catches up. It writes as a wet Fine, but it is not the best daily writer. Superb for flexing.
