Parker Lucky Curve Eyedropper #20 – Wet Noodle

IMG_7198

Parker Lucky Curve Eyedropper #20 – Wet Noodle

Here is a very old and difficult to obtain Parker Lucky Curve eyedropper (latest patent date is April 4, 1899).  The pen is in overall good condition. The black hard rubber is and always was smooth with no chasing. The hard rubber has faded some to a dark grayish brown. The imprints are still quite good. The pen still has the original Lucky Curve feed. The very early 14kt. Parker Lucky Curve nib is an almost paintbrush like wet noodle that has great responsiveness and control. The right tine of this nib, however, was bent down at one point and still has a bit of wrinkle. I have aligned the tines pretty close, but I could not completely remove the wrinkle. The result is that with some inks it does railroad a bit, but with wetter more lubricating inks (Sailor Souten is what is in the pics) there is no problem. The nib is a quite wet XF and writes smoothly. (See Price Here)

Waterman 52 Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_7242

Waterman 52 Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

This is a Waterman 52 Red Ripple with the rarer nickel plated trim (usually it’s gold filled trim). The pen is in great condition. There is only slight fading to the red ripple hard rubber. In fact, the only thing that it seems to have lost in color is the high gloss finish. There is some wear on the clip, but it still looks pretty good. The lever has little to no plate loss. The imprints on the pen are all very good. The 14kt. Waterman #2 Canada nib is a soft, springy and smooth XF. It takes very little pressure to make this nib flex and you will definitely be flexing without intending to at times. It is a super flex nib that is approaching wet noodle status but not quite there. It flexes from XF to BBB (0.3mm to 2.0mm). Really great pen.

Wahl-Eversharp Doric w/ #7 Adjustable Nib & Pencil Combo – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7257

Wahl-Eversharp Doric w/ #7 Adjustable Nib & Pencil Combo – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Wahl-Eversharp Doric pen and pencil in black celluloid. These pens are high dollar, top of the line pens for their era. The pen is a second generation plunger filler and has a #7 adjustable nib. This set also comes in the original tin box. The box is pretty heavy duty, but does have some wear and tear. Nothing major. Just cosmetic wear. I am not sure if the pencil is still in working order. Both pen and pencil are in very good cosmetic condition having only very light scratching on the bodies. The gold-filled trim on both pieces is in excellent condition with no signs of brassing. The barrel on the pen has superb barrel clarity as you can see in the pics. The #7 adjustable nib writes as an XF (0.3mm) and gets wetter and just a bit broader as you open it up. Opened all the way, the nib performs as a decent super flex nib with decent responsiveness and going from XF to BBB (0.3mm t0 1.8mm). A phenomenal and classy set.

Waterman 92 – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7267

Waterman 92 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a gorgeous Waterman 92 in black with silver and red flecks with gold filled trim. The pen is in excellent condition and the silver and red flecked celluloid is quite stunning in person. There are no major scratches or cracks in the pen. The gold-filled trim is in good condition, though the lever looks to have received a scrap at one point and there is some plate loss there. Imprints are all very crisp. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is a very wet F that writes smooth with just a little feedback. It also has super flex ability going from 0.4mm (F) to 1.8mm (BBB).

Waterman 52 – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_7174

Waterman 52 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is modified Waterman 52. This 52 had no original clip, but was fitted with a high quality nickel-plated “Ideal” clip. The cap on this pen has been shortened, though it was given a nice beveled edge so that it really does look original. It may have been modified to remove a cracked lip or just to give it some extra style. The BCHR has browned and the chasing is worn smooth, though visible. The imprints are also quite worn though readable. The clip does have some plate loss throughout, but magnification is required to see whatever wear there is on the lever. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is a great writing, smooth F nib. Even the flex on this nib is really smooth. It has great range of flex from 0.4mm to 2.2mm. The feed has no trouble keeping up, so you don’t have to worry much about railroading. This would make a great every day carry.

Vintage Eyedropper with Gold Filigree – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_7184

Vintage Gold Filigree Eyedropper – SUPER FLEX  (On Ebay)

This an unbranded vintage eyedropper with a gold-filled filigree overlay. This pen is likely pre-1910, and though it isn’t branded it still an obviously high quality, solidly built pen. The hard rubber under the overlay has browned. This pen is probably pre-pocket clip and has no clip on the cap. The filigree looks great. There are just a couple small dings where a personalization could on the barrel (see pic), though there is no personalization. I could find no brassing on the pen. This pen has a 14kt. Waterman #2 and Waterman feed. The nib is a smooth writing XF (borderline XXF). It’s a fantastic smooth writer and the nib has a bit of character to it. I really enjoy writing with this pen. The flex is decent, though I would say this is a low level super flex. The person I bought it from described it as a “wet noodle,” but it is definitely not in that league. Still a beautiful, well made, hundred year plus eyedropper.

SIZE:  4 7/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF/XXF to BBB (0.25mm-1.8mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex! (SOLD)

IMG_7195

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a solid black Skyline in standard size. Skylines are one of my favorite pens. They just always feel right in the hand. Overall, it is in pretty good condition. There is some scratching throughout the body. In a couple places its a bit more than the typical light scratching you get with these pens. But I have buffed and polished a good deal of the scratching out. The gold filled trim looks great with little to no brassing on the lever, clip, and band. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a wet F/M (its a o.5mm not 0.4m as the picture states) and flexes up to 2.0mm. As is common with these Skyline nibs, they have great range, decent responsiveness, but they are a bit stiffer than other nibs of similar flex range. Of course, that also makes them more durable and far less prone to cracking.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Eversharp 14kt., F to BBB (0.5mm-2.0mm) SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

  • Nib and feed adjusted for optimal flow

Waterman 52V Persian – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_7161

Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here a gorgeous Waterman 52V in Waterman’s “Persian” style. There are no number markings on this pen, but I think this style only came in a Lady Patrica, 94, and this size. So this is shorter than a 52, but about the same girth. The Persian celluloid is an early celluloid and really shimmers in person with a complex depth to it. The only real blemish on this pen is that it has the typical color change on the barrel, but the cap still looks like it’s original green color. The gold filled trim looks great with no signs of brassing on the lever, clip, or band. The imprint is also in good condition. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a superb super flex nib. It has a great range from F to BBB (0.4mm – 2.1mm). Ease of flex and responsiveness are fantastic and come very, very close to wet noodle status. It writes wet and smooth as nice F. A beautiful pen that is not all that easy to obtain.

Parker Lucky Curve Jack Knife “Safety Pen” – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_7135

Parker Lucky Curve Jack Knife “Safety Pen” – Wet Noodle

Here is a Parker Lucky Curve Jack Knife Safety Pen with a fantastic wet noodle “Lucky Curve” nib. The black hard rubber body is still pretty black. It’s dulled just a bit and does have one spot on the barrel that is more faded. There are scratches throughout the pen. The imprints are pretty good. Definitely readable. The nickel plated clip has some wear and pitting. But the real point of this pen is the great “Lucky Curve” nib. It writes normally as a very, glassy smooth F. The flex isn’t quite paintbrush, but it is very easy and responsive ranging from 0.4 (F) to 2.2mm (BBB). A nice little noodle.  (See Price Here)

Waterman 52 1/2V Red Mottled – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_7124

Waterman 52 1/2V Red Mottled – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a pretty little Waterman 52 1/2V ring top in red mottled hard rubber. The hard rubber on the barrel and cap are faded and dulled a bit. I tried to capture the section the cap covered from light exposure to give a sense of the fading. There is also a very small crack coming from the top of the lever box. It seems very stable, though. “Lucille E. Bailey” is imprinted on the side of the pen and is very readable as are all the Waterman imprints. The gold-filled trim is in very good condition with little to no brassing. The nib on this pen is superb. It’s a correct 14kt. Waterman #2 that writes as an ultra smooth XF. It’s actually not very wet compared with your typical Waterman nib, though it is not at all dry. And the flex on the nib comes with near wet noodle ease and responsiveness. It ranges from 0.3mm (XF) to 1.9mm (BBB) and takes very little pressure to make it flex. You will definitely be flexing at time without even intending to. It’s a fantastic nib.
