Waterman 52 1/2V Red Mottled – Super Flex (On Ebay)
Here is a pretty little Waterman 52 1/2V ring top in red mottled hard rubber. The hard rubber on the barrel and cap are faded and dulled a bit. I tried to capture the section the cap covered from light exposure to give a sense of the fading. There is also a very small crack coming from the top of the lever box. It seems very stable, though. “Lucille E. Bailey” is imprinted on the side of the pen and is very readable as are all the Waterman imprints. The gold-filled trim is in very good condition with little to no brassing. The nib on this pen is superb. It’s a correct 14kt. Waterman #2 that writes as an ultra smooth XF. It’s actually not very wet compared with your typical Waterman nib, though it is not at all dry. And the flex on the nib comes with near wet noodle ease and responsiveness. It ranges from 0.3mm (XF) to 1.9mm (BBB) and takes very little pressure to make it flex. You will definitely be flexing at time without even intending to. It’s a fantastic nib.
