Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_6149

Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here a superb Waterman 52V in BCHR. This is one of my favorite sized Watermans. It has the bulk of the 52 and feels like one when posted, but is also compact and portable. The black hard rubber is still very black. Virtually no fading. The chasing is still very good and the imprints are great. The nickel plated clip is mint and the lever has only very, very slight wear visible only by magnification. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a nice and smooth F with super flex ability. It has a range of 0.4mm to 2.0mm. A very gorgeous and minty vintage pen.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_6117

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This is a Skyline in Demi in size in brown plastic with a gold filled cap and trim. The pen is in good condition. There is very light scratching on the body, but after buffing and polishing it’s greatly reduced. The cap has a few very small and minor dings. Nothing you could really capture well in a photo. There is some very slight wear to the gold filled lever and wear, but they look pretty good. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a great XF that writes smooth and glassy. It also has some good flex going up to 1.8mm. It has very good responsiveness allowing for some nice crisp flex writing. The feed is also excellent providing plenty of ink for flexing (you aren’t going to be railroading with it), but not so much that it makes normal writing sloppy. A superlative pen.

SIZE:  4 7/8″ Capped

Wahl-Eversharp Doric w/ “Flexible” Nib – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_5823

Wahl-Eversharp Doric – Wet Noodle – (See Price Here)

Here is a great 1st generation Wahl-Eversharp Doric in black with gold-filled trim and a great Eversharp “Flexible” nib. The pen is in great condition. It does have some light scratching throughout the pen, which always more obvious in glossy black. The gold filled trim is in good condition. I can only find some light brassing on the band, and it took magnification to see that. To the naked eye, it all looks great. The double check gold seal is still present and looking good. But the stunner on this pen is the fabulous 14kt. Everhsharp, Gold Seal “Flexible” nib. This is a smooth writing XF that has massive flex up to 2.8mm!! This is not a paintbrush, but the flex is quite easy. The feed has no problem keeping up with this monster flexing action.

Waterman 13 – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_5469

Waterman 13 Eye Dropper – Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

Here is a Waterman 13 (sorry the pic is wrong) with an outstanding wet noodle nib. It is made of smooth black hard rubber (no original chasing) which has greyed and faded a bit though it is till blackish. Imprints are still very good. An accommodation cap was installed at some point and moved much later leaving a blacker outline on the cap where the clip used to be. There also appeared to be some kind of band on the barrel (not an original band though) that was removed and left a blacker outline from where it used to be. The clip still functions but has rusted a bit. The real star of this pen though is the nib. It is a great, almost dip nib like wet noodle. It is extremely fine and flexes up to 2.3mm very easily. It would make a great Copperplate nib. (See Price Here)

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #3, XXF to BBB (0.1mm-2.3mm),  Wet Noodle (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 12 1/2 PSF – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_6060

Waterma 12 1/2 PSF – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This is a Waterman you do not see all that often. It is a 12 1/2 PSF. It is the predecessor to the 52 1/2. The “1/2” means thinner profile and the “PSF” means that it fills by lever. It is made of BCHR. The chasing and imprints are great and the color is very good. Very black. It has two gold-filled bands that appear to have been added after market. The top band actually sticks out over the cap by just a millimeter to so. The bands are in pretty good condition but does have some tiny spots of brassing here and there. The lever has some deep scratching and plate loss where the scratching is. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is superb. It is a great flex nib. It writes normally as an XF (0.3mm) but it is also oblique, which actually adds some character both to your writing and to the flexing. The feed is plenty wet to keep up with it when goes all the way up to 2.0mm, but it does not write over wet normally. It has good responsiveness and is just a pleasure to flex with.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BBB (0.3mm-2.1mm)  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

CONDITION: Good

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly
  • Nib and feed cleaned and adjusted for optimal flow

Conklin 26P Vest Size – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_6056

Conklin 26P Vest Size – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Conklin #26P. It’s a BCHR flat top with gold-filled trim. It’s a fantastic flat top vest size pen with one unfortunate flaw. At some point the pen was exposed to a heat source that made a spot toward the back of the barrel bulge and even create a small tear that was filled (see pics). The cap posts alright. The gold-filled trim looks good with only slight wear visible only through magnification. Chasing and imprints are decent. The Conklin 14kt. Toledo #2 nib is great. It has great ease of flex, good responsiveness, and a nice range (0.4mm – 2.0mm). The only downside is that it can be a little finicky about your angle while flexing if you are using a thinner ink. The F nib also writes with just a little bit of character. It really does feel more like an XF than a fine.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped

NIB:  Conklin #2 Toledo, F to BBB (0.4mm-2.0mm) SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Parker Challenger – Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_6062

Parker Challenger – Good Flex  – (On Ebay)

This is a Parker Challenger in standard size. This is made of the same plastic as the early green/ pearl marbled Vacumatics. The pen does indeed feel very Vac-like. It’s a good size pen at 5″ long and almost 12mm in diameter. The plastic body looks great. The band as well as the clip both have significant plate loss. Imprints are good, and the button filling system is working great. The 14kt. Parker nib is a nice F (0.4mm) with some decent flex. It has a pretty good range and ease of flex, but lacks the responsiveness of a super flex. Still a nice pen.

SIZE:  5″ Capped

NIB: Parker 14kt., F-BB (0.4mm-1.7mm), GOOD FLEX – (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for how I Grade Flex).

FILLING: Button Filler

Sheaffer Pocket Size “Self Filling” Nib – Medium Flex (SOLD)

IMG_6111

Sheaffer Pocket Size “Self Filling” Nib  – Medium Flex

Here is a pocket size Sheaffer flat top in BCHR. It does not appear to have had an original clip but was given an accommodation clip. The pen still quite black with minimal fading. Chasing and imprints are good. The lever appear to be nickel plated and has some plate loss. The clip also has some plate loss as some rust. The 14kt. Sheaffer “Self-Filling” #2 nib is nice XF that has medium flex ability. Some would call this a semi-flex. The nib is capable of more range, but as is often the case with these early Sheaffers the feed can’t keep up. Still the flex comes fairly easy. This is still a pretty nice looking little pen with some flex.

SIZE:  3 3/4″ Capped

NIB: Sheaffer “Self-Filling #2, XF to B (0.3mm-1.1mm),  Medium Flex (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal Flat Top – Manifold Nib (SOLD)

IMG_6044

Wahl-Eversharp Flat Top Manifold Nib – (On Ebay)

Here is a good size (5 1/8″ long; 11.8mm diameter) Wahl Eversharp Flat top in green celluloid wit a “Gold Seal” manifold nib. There is some discoloration of the green celluloid. Only a portion of the pen shows the original color. The pen has the inscription “Armour’s Cloverbloom Cheese” on the side. There are some chips out of the lip of the cap (see pic). The gold filled trim looks pretty good. There are just tiny spots of brassing in a few places. The 14kt. “Manifold” nib is a nice and smooth XF. Almost an XXF.

NIB: Eversharp “Gold Seal” Manifold, XF (o.3mm)

Sheaffer Ring Top Self Filling – Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_6005

Sheaffer Ring Top Self Filling – Good Flex

This is a Sheaffer black chased hard rubber ring top pen. The hard rubber is faded a little to a lighter shade of black. The cap does have a tinge of brown in it. Imprints and chasing are fairly crisp. Gold filled trim looks very good. There are a few dings on the cap, but almost no brassing on the cap or lever. The 14kt. #2 Sheaffer Self-filling nib is a great writer (it is especially good with small writing) with some nice flex. I graded it “good flex,” but it is borderline super flex. It just lacks a bit in the ease of flex, but it does have some nice responsiveness. A great portable flex pen with a nice XF nib.

SIZE:  4″ Capped
