Wahl-Eversharp Vest Pen – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Vest Pen – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a nice Wahl-Eversharp in their emerald green plastic. This is a ring top in vest pen size that posts to feel like a full size pen when writing. The green has darkened in some places, but it isn’t too terribly bad compared to some pens in this color. There is no brassing on the gold-filled bands or lever. There is an indentation on the body just below the lever. The 14kt. Wahl-Eversharp “Signature” nib is a wonderful writing nib. It is a wet, smooth F with a stubbish quality about it. It also has some soft flex ranging from F to BB (0.4mm to 1.6mm). It is pretty responsive as well. A nice, quality flex nib that writes beautifully.

A.A. Waterman Eyedropper – Super Flex/Wet Noodle (SOLD)

A.A. Waterman Eyedropper – Super Flex/Wet Noodle (On Ebay)

Here is a very interesting A.A. Waterman middle joint eyedropper (meaning the section screws out at the band and not lower near the like traditional eyedroppers) that is likely from mid-1910s. A.A. Waterman was a quality pen manufacturer that faded out in the 1920s. It is in overall good condition. The black hard rubber has faded to a dark brown. The imprint is worn and just barely readable. The band has a little bit of brassing on some edges. There is also a hint of a bend on the bottom section likely due to being exposed to excessive heat, but you probably wouldn’t even notice it unless you were examining it closely. The nib is not original, but it is lovely. It’s a 14kt. Aikin Lambert #2 of the same era. It is a lovely writing wet and stubbish XF. It’s just really hard to find nibs that write like this any more. And the nib has some superb flex going from 0.3mm to 1.7mm (XF-near BBB). This nib is really on the border of being a “wet noodle.” It’s soft and  it’s responsive. The only issue is that it will railroad occasionally. On the sample, for example, it probably railroaded 4 times. Nothing major, just not as “wet” as most “wet noodles.”

Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a superb example of a Wahl gold-filled ring top. It has clearly seen very little use and is in top notch condition. No dings. No brassing. There is hardly even the normal light scratching. It is really tough to find these ring tops in this kind of condition. The only signs of light scratching is on the end of the barrel from the cap being posted. There is no personalization on the pen either. The 14kt. Wahl #2 is a phenomenal flex nib. It is a tough to come by XXF (0.2mm) flex nib. Normally it writes smoothly for so fine a nib. It feels almost pencil like with just a bit of feedback. Responsiveness is superb, and as you can see the quality of flex is just beautiful and crisp. Perfect for artists or calligraphers wanting a fountain pen that comes near mimicking the quality of a dip nib. You won’t be disappointed with this little beauty.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Medium Flex (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a gorgeous Skyline in black with green pinstripe cap. I personally like the pinstripe caps (especially the green) over the gold-filled ones. They tend to wear better and, to me, have a more sophisticated look. The body has some light scratching typical with these pens. And there is a deeper scratch through part of the threads (see pic), but the cap still threads perfectly smooth. There is no brassing on the trim. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a very wet M/ B (0.6mm). It is glassy smooth and reminds me a bit of my Pelikan nibs. It also has some flex. It ranges up to a large BBB (1.8mm), but the flex is a bit too stiff and lacks the responsiveness of more elite flex nibs. That doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it. It still is beautiful wet nib on a lovely pen.

Waterman 52 1/2V – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 52 1/2V  – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a really nice Waterman 52 1/2 V. These pens are sometimes mistakenly thought of as “ladies pens,” but in reality the V stands for vest pen and were meant to be portable pens that were short but became full size when posted. The BCHR has faded to a brown, but the imprints are very clean and crisp and the chasing still has good texture to it. The gold-filled trim on this is in nice condition with no brassing. The lever is especially clean and minty looking. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a wet F (0.4mm). It does appear to have gotten a little banged up at one point as it has a fews slight bumps. But that hasn’t affected it’s performance. It actually has near wet noodle ease of flex. It is right on the border between a wet noodle and super flex. If the range of flex were a bit better, I’d probably have graded it “wet noodle.” Still a very excellent flex nib with zero flow issues in my testing. It only railroaded when it ran out of ink. Responsiveness is quite good. A great little vintage flex pen.

Waterman 12 1/2- Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 12 1/2- Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This originally clipless Waterman 12 1/2 is in quite good condition. The black hard rubber, which was originally smooth with no chasing, has faded some to a dark brown. But the imprints are very clear and crisp with little wear to them. This is a rather thin pen and probably not for the large handed. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a wet, smooth writing F (0.4mm). It flexes with ease up to 1.6mm (BB+). It doesn’t have the snappiest response but it’s good enough. A fun little eyedropper with some soft flex.

Waterman 12 Eyedropper – Wet Noodle

Waterman 12 Eyedropper – Wet Noodle  See Price Here

Here is an excellent example of a Waterman 12 eyedropper. The pen is in superb condition. The body is a smooth black hard rubber, which has only a very light amount of fading. It is still quite black and has a shine to it. The imprints are impressively crisp. The nickel clip looks brand new. This pen looks to have almost never been used. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is a wet writing XF that is springy and smooth. It has some soft flex going up to 1.6mm (just a hair under BBB). The ease of flex is on the stiffer side of wet noodle, but it has some nice responsiveness as well. This is a rare, near mint Waterman 12.
