Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Good/Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Good/Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a nice Skyline in burgundy with the gold-filled cap. The pen is in great condition. It has some very minimal light scratching on the body. The gold-filled trim is in good condition overall. There is some plate loss on the crown of the lever from the cap rubbing on it when posted. There are no ding or scratches in the gold-filled cap. There is a tiny little ding on the clip. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a very wet writing F (0.5mm) that is glassy smooth. It has very good range of flex going up to 1.9mm!! (BBB+).  The wetness of the feed does reduce the responsiveness as the ink just pours out of this when flexed. But if you want some sheening, this is the pen for you. The ease of flex is on the border between “super flex”  and “good flex.” Still its a great Skyline.

Waterman 52 1/2V – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 52 1/2V  – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This Waterman ring top is a black hard rubber pen with gold filled trim. The hard rubber has faded to a medium brown. The pen is smooth with no original chasing. The imprints are perhaps a little worn but are easily readable. The gold filled trim does not show any brassing. However, the lever box at some point was pushed downward resulting in a slight bend down at it’s axis point. There is no crack in the box. Just a slight bend downward. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a wet and smooth writing F (0.4mm) that flexes quite easily up to a BB line (1.6mm). It has pretty good responsiveness as well.

Wahl-Eversharp Doric Junior – Wet Noodle

Wahl-Eversharp Doric – Wet Noodle – (See Price Here)

Here is a lovely Wahl Doric in Junior size in the Morraco red color. This color is really beautiful with a depth that causes it to shift in appearance as you move it in the light. The body does have some light scratching throughout typical of these models but no crazing. It’s a first generation Doric lever-filler. The gold-filled trim is all in good condition. The #3 two-toned Eversharp Adjustible nib is a lovely wet writing F (when adjusted to firm) and a soft wet noodle when adjusted to full flex. This pen puts down a lot of ink when flexing and the nib is paintbrush soft. It has a great range going all the way to BBB (1.8mm). As is usual in such a soft nib the responsiveness isn’t as crisp as some wet noodles, but it’s still decent for its softness. This is just a fun, beautiful pen.

Waterman 12 – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 12 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This is a nice Waterman 12 in BCHR. It’s an early 12. The imprints are on the cap (generally they are on the barrel) and the latest patent date is 1898 which would precede the Waterman’s later 1904 patent date. That dates this pen to sometime between 1898 and 1904. It’s in superb condition for it’s age. It has faded to a dark brownish color, but the chasing and imprints (even the “12” on the barrel end) appear about as crisp as original. This pen has seen a lot of action. The gold filled bands look to be in good condition as well. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is an early version which would match the dating of the pen. It’s a nice, smooth writing XF/ F (0.35mm) with medium wetness. It has some nice flex going up to 1.6mm. It has decant responsiveness. Overall, this is a very fine example a very old pen.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

Mabie Todd Swan Minor Red Mottled – Super Flex (SOLD)

Mabie Todd Swan Minor Red Mottled- Super Flex (On Ebay)

This is a made in England Mabie Todd Swan Minor with a No.2 nib. The pen is made of a nice red mottled hard rubber. The color is still quite good with only a little bit of fading. The imprints are also very good and crisp. The nickel filled clip has some wear from use. Most of the nickel remains in tact but it is matted and scuffed from the wear. The lever of this model was and is black in color and is in good shape. The 14kt. #2 Swan nib is a smooth writing F (0.5mm) with medium wetness. This is not a gusher but the flow keeps up. The nib doesn’t have that super buttery feel a wet nib will have, but it is still very smooth. The flex on this is pen is very good. It ranges from F all the way to a BBB (1.8mm). The flow is very good and the nib has good snap back.

Wahl BCHR Flat Top with Roller Clip – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl BCHR Flat Top with Roller Clip – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a Wahl flat top pen in BCHR. The black hard rubber has faded to a mostly dark brown with spots of lighter brown on the cap. The chasing on the pen is worn a little but is still quite visible and has texture to it. The gold-filled trim is in overall good condition. The roller clip looks beautiful. There is a little bit of brassing on the crown of the lever. The Wahl #2 nib is a superb XF (0.3mm) that writes soft and smooth, especially for such a fine nib. It also has some beautiful flex going from a superb range of XF to BBB (0.3mm to 1.8mm). The ease of flex is near wet noodle, but not quite. And the responsiveness of the nib is excellent.

Waterman 12 Red Mottled – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 12 Red Mottled – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a very nice Waterman 12 in red mottled hard rubber. The latest patent date on the pen is 1903. There is a bit of fading on the hard rubber, but overall it still has good color. The imprints on the pen are good and crisp. The pen came to me with a Mercantile accommodation clip that I will pass on to the buyer, but this pen did not have a clip originally. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is the original older style Waterman nib, and it is lovely. It is a soft, smooth writing F that is wet but not gushing. It has significant flex to it. While it is just a hair too stiff to be a “wet noodle,” it has wet noodle like range of flex going from 0.4mm to a huge 1.9mm (F – BBB+). The nib is also nicely responsive. Overall, this is a beautiful, hundred plus year old Waterman eyedropper.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

Waterman 12 – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 12 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 12 eyedropper in BCHR. The black hard rubber has faded to a dark brown and the chasing on the pen, though still visible, has been worn smooth. The imprints, though, are still quite crisp and easily readable. At some point, the lip of this cap was probably chipped as about 1mm of the lip was trimmed off. This pen is clipless and was originally made that way. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is smooth writing F (0.4mm) that is surprisingly not super wet as is common with these vintage eyedroppers. It also has a soft, easy flex that ranges up to BBB (1.8mm). There is a very slight depression in the tines near the tip that you can see in certain lighting, but it does not affect the performance of the nib. For an eyedropper it has pretty good responsiveness for good crisp flex writing.

SIZE:  5 1/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, F to BB (0.4mm-1.8mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Eyedropper

Waterman 3V – Good Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 3V – Good Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman vest pen in size 3V in green and red marble. The pen is in fair condition. There are no major scratches and no cracks. The end of the barrel does show some crazing as you can see. The cap is also missing the thin chrome band. The chrome plated clip and lever are in decent condition with some moderate wear. The imprints are all good. The 14kt Waterman #2 is an elegant and smooth writing XF that has medium plus wetness. It is a nice, elegant writing XF that has has some nice flex ranging up to 1.4mm (BB). I’ve graded the nib “good flex” because the ease of flex is a bit more stiff than a super flex grade. Responsiveness is decent and the flow keeps up well.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.4mm),  GOOD FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 0752 1/2 – Super Flex/Wet Noodle

Waterman 0752 – Super Flex/Wet Noodle  (On Ebay)

Here is a very nice Waterman 0752 1/2, which is the slender version of the 52. The BCHR body has faded some to a dark brown. The chasing has worn some but is still visible. The cap chasing still has some texture to it but the body’s chasing feels almost smooth. The imprints are worn a bit as well but still readable. The gold filled trim (and thus to “07” numbering before the “52 1/2”) is in very nice condition. I do not see any brassing. There are a few tiny spots on the lever probably caused by something scraping it. You would hardly notice them until you were looking close. The 14kt. Waterman #2 on this pen is a beauty. It’s an XF nib that that writes with a good wetness and is nice smooth writer. The flex on this pen is quite special. It has near wet noodle ease of flex, which is lovely enough, but what sets it apart is the superb responsiveness. I graded this as bordering between “super flex” and “wet noodle” mainly because though the ease of flex is just under wet noodle status, the responsiveness is superior to even most wet noodles.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2,X F to BB (0.3mm-1.6mm),  SUPER FLEX/WET NOODLE  (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)
