Waterman 12 Red Mottled – Super Flex (On Ebay)
Here is a very nice Waterman 12 in red mottled hard rubber. The latest patent date on the pen is 1903. There is a bit of fading on the hard rubber, but overall it still has good color. The imprints on the pen are good and crisp. The pen came to me with a Mercantile accommodation clip that I will pass on to the buyer, but this pen did not have a clip originally. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is the original older style Waterman nib, and it is lovely. It is a soft, smooth writing F that is wet but not gushing. It has significant flex to it. While it is just a hair too stiff to be a “wet noodle,” it has wet noodle like range of flex going from 0.4mm to a huge 1.9mm (F – BBB+). The nib is also nicely responsive. Overall, this is a beautiful, hundred plus year old Waterman eyedropper.
