Waterman 3 – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

Waterman 3 – SUPER FLEX   (On Ebay)

This is a gorgeous Waterman 3 gray marble celluloid with flecks of red. The pen is in very good condition with just some light scratching throughout that you only can see with detail examination. The chrome plated trim looks very good, but does have a little bit of wear on the lever and just a whisper on the clip. Imprints are all great. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is a superb, springy, soft and wet writing XF. It flexes quite easily up to 1.7mm. The feed is plenty wet to keep up, and it has decent responsiveness. A great pen in great condition.

Moore L-72 Ring Top – Wet Noodle

Moore L-72 Ring Top – Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

Here is a vintage Moore L-72 ring top. The body has some discoloration: parts that should be a light green have turned brownish. There is light scratching throughout the pen and some light bite marks on the end of the barrel. It’s mostly not very obvious unless you are looking carefully at the pen. The lever and ring top have little to no brassing. The lever is loose but works well. When I found this pen it never had the original lever bar but only a piece of sheet metal for a j-bar. I replaced it with a brand new j bar that makes filling work flawlessly. The hard rubber section has some marks around the end of it likely were someone was trying to pull out the section from the barrel. The beauty of this pen is the 14kt. Moore nib. It’s a fabulously responsive nib that flexes with ease. It’s not a paintbrush, but it takes quite little effort and snaps back about as good as you can expect of fountain pen nib to do. It is great for tiny, detail flexing as well as larger calligraphy work.  (See Price Here)

Parker Gold-Filled Lucky Curve – Super Flex (SOLD)

Parker Gold Filled Lucky Curve – Super Flex  – (On Ebay)

This is a gold filled Parker Lucky Curve vest pen. It is in quite good condition. The only real significant cosmetic flaws are two small dings on the barrel (see pics). There is no brassing that I could find. There is some light scratching on the body as is normal from typical use. The 14kt. #2 Lucky Curve nib does have the slightest little wrinkle in one of the tines, but it does not affect the performance of the nib. The pen writes as a smooth XF (0.3mm) that has a nice flex up to 1.7mm. The flex is pretty easy and quite responsive. A great example of Parker’s version of the gold-filled pen.

Mabie Todd Swan Ring Top – Good Flex (SOLD)

Mabie Todd Swan Ring Top – Good Flex (On Ebay)

This is a New York made Mabie Todd Swan mini ring top. This is the ultra portable version measuring only 3 3/8″ and about as thin as a #2 pencil. The pen is in very good condition with no dings and very little brassing. There is a slight bit of plate loss on the edges of the lever and two small spots on the section. There is an inscription on the barrel in a nice script that reads “J.R.B.” I think. The 14kt. Mabie Todd nib is a nice little XXF nib that writes quite smooth for how fine it is (0.2mm). It flexes quite easily up to 1.2mm, and if you stay within it’s range the flow keeps up well.

Mabie Todd Swan with Over/ Under Feed – Wet Noodle

Mabie Todd Swan- Wet Noodle  (See Price Here)

Here is a made in England Mabie Todd “Swan” 1500 eyedropper with an over/under feed. The black hard rubber has now turned brown. The imprints are worn a bit but they are certainly readable. All chasing on the pen has been worn smooth. The beauty of this pen is in the nib. This is a very wet writing pen as is typical for these Mabie Todd eyedroppers. The 14kt. Swan nib writes normally as a smooth and wet F but it has a nice soft flex up to 1.9mm. And the ink just pours from this nib once you start flexing. It’s a great pen for producing sheen if you are into that. I would say that this is on the lower side of the wet noodle grade. It’s not quite a paint brush, but it takes very little pressure to make the tines start spreading. These over/ under feed eyedroppers are much sought after. This one shows some age, but it’s still a great pen.  (See Price Here)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Medium Flex! (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

This is a brown Skyline in standard size with a gold-filled cap. The pen is in very good condition. There is one ding on the cap that I tried to catch with a camera but isn’t showing up well. There are a couple other very, very minor pin drop dings as well, but they take work to see. There are few teeth marks on the crown of the cap. The body has very minimal minor scratchy, especially for a Skyline. And the gold-filled lever shows no signs of brassing. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a very wet M/F (0.5mm), though I’ve used much wetter Skylines before. The nib is an absolute pleasure to use. The pen has a pretty good flex range going up to 1.8mm, but the nib just lacks the responsiveness of a higher quality flex. Still it is a very nice Skyline that writes beautifully.

Waterman 52V Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

Waterman 52V Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Very nice Waterman 52V Red Ripple. The pen is in overall nice condition, but there are some important things to note. First, it appears that the cap is not original. The body appears to be a woodgrain 52V and the cap is a ripple cap. The woodgrain bodies tend to be darker, as this is, and less, well, rippley. Only a trained eye would observe the difference. Most people wouldn’t think twice. The feed is also a replacement from another Waterman pen as it is black and not the original ripple feed. The hard rubber is very well preserved. The imprints are worn; slightly visible but not readable. It has an inscription that is worn and I could not make out. The gold-filled trim is in good condition with no brassing. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a very nice writing XF that feels soft and a bit springy with normal writing. It has some nice flex up to 1.6mm. The flex is on the stiffer side of super flex, but it had pretty good responsiveness.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.6mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 52 Red Ripple (Nickel Trim) – Super Flex/ Wet Noodle

Waterman 52 Red Ripple w/ Nickel Trim – Super Flex/ Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

Here is a full sized Waterman 52 in Red Ripple hard rubber. This 52 was made in Canada but likely intended for the European market as it has nickel rather than gold-filled trim. It is also unusual as it does not have the typical band on the cap lip. The pen is in superb condition. There is just a whisper of fading of the hard rubber. Only by looking under the cap can you see just a tiny bit of fading. The nickel plated clip and lever are in great condition. There is just a tiny bit of scuffing on one edge of the clip. Imprints are very good and easy to read. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is wonderful. It’s a stubbish XF (0.3mm) with medium flow that writes smooth and with a touch of line variation. The nib has some very nice flex that comes easily. Ease of flex I would grade as wet noodle or near wet noodle. Responsiveness is also quite good. The flex range is from 0.3mm to 1.6mm. Overall, this is one outstanding pen.  (See Price Here)

Wahl Gold Filled Pen #3 Nib – Super Flex

Wahl Gold Filled #3 Nib – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a nice Wahl gold filled pen with clip. This is a larger 4 1/4″ pen with a #3 nib. The pen is in overall good condition.  There is some light scratching from normal use throughout the pen, but nothing deep or substantial. There are two very tiny dings on the ends of the pen (one on each end), but you would only notice them by looking very closely. There is no brassing that I could see. The black hard rubber section has faded some to a very brownish black. The 14kt. Wahl #3 nib has some great flex to it that comes with very little pressure. This nib is close to a wet noodle. It writes normally as a smooth F (0.4mm) that is wet but not gushing. The pen really lays down a lot of ink once you start flexing however. So much that it does affect the responsiveness of the pen a bit, but it is still pretty decent. The line variation is very good going from 0.4mm to 1.8mm. This is nice durable pen that can give you some great flex on the go.

SIZE:  4 1/4″ Capped

Waterman 52V Olive Ripple Pen & Pencil Combo – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

Waterman 52V Olive Ripple Pen & Pencil Combo – SUPER FLEX  (See Price Here)

Here is a Waterman 52V Olive Ripple with matching Pencil. The Olive Ripple is one of the most difficult Ripples to come by and very collectable. The pair are in excellent condition with very little fading. The gold-filled trim is in excellent condition with no brassing. There is a slight scratch across the top of the lever, but that is about it. Imprints are good and readable. The matching pencil is not restored. I merely cleaned it up. I assume it’s functional but I haven’t tested it. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is a nice XF point that writes smooth with a slightly stubbish feel. This nib has the circle rather than the heart air hole, and it has some scuffing on top of it wearing down the nib imprints some. The flex on this pen is quite soft and flexes quite easily up to 1.6mm. The nib is a bit finicky about the angle you hold the nib to paper. The feed keeps up well, but if you get off the right angle you can get some railroading.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.6mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)
