Waterman 52V Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)
Very nice Waterman 52V Red Ripple. The pen is in overall nice condition, but there are some important things to note. First, it appears that the cap is not original. The body appears to be a woodgrain 52V and the cap is a ripple cap. The woodgrain bodies tend to be darker, as this is, and less, well, rippley. Only a trained eye would observe the difference. Most people wouldn’t think twice. The feed is also a replacement from another Waterman pen as it is black and not the original ripple feed. The hard rubber is very well preserved. The imprints are worn; slightly visible but not readable. It has an inscription that is worn and I could not make out. The gold-filled trim is in good condition with no brassing. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a very nice writing XF that feels soft and a bit springy with normal writing. It has some nice flex up to 1.6mm. The flex is on the stiffer side of super flex, but it had pretty good responsiveness.
