Waterman 12 PSF – Medium Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 12 PSF with original box. The 12 PSF was the  predecessor to Waterman 52. It is essentially a 52 but before Waterman standardized it’s numbering system, which would put it pre-1917. The first number on the model imprint is worn. It looks like a 1 (thus model 12), but there is no “PSF,” so perhaps it’s just a “52.” The pen is dark brown. Chasing and imprints are worn but visible and mostly readable. It is missing the clip (see pics). Lever has some plate wear, though it is still shiny. The nib doesn’t quite have the line variation to make it a “good flex.” It writes a very fine line. It has a little bit of a tooth, which is not uncommon for XXF nibs, but it isn’t what I would call scratchy.

Sheaffer Flat Top Self Filling – Wet Noodle

This is a full size BCHR flat top Sheaffer. It is still very black, and I don’t see much signs of browning. The chasing is a checkered pattern and is very crisp. The imprints are also fairly crisp. The gold trim is in good condition. There is just a little brassing on the lever. There is also just one small chip out of the lip of the cap. The nib is a Self-Filling #2 XF nib. It has Wet Noodle grade flex with a qualification. With inks with good surface tension like the Pilot Iroshizuku I’m offering as a free sample, this goes up to 1.9mm with ease. With inks with less surface tension, it will start railroading after 1.5-1.6mm range. It still is a great flexing nib, you just can’t use all the flex.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

I’ve hit a good run of some really fantastic Skylines, and this is another one of  them. It’s black with gold filled cap and trim. The body has some very light scratching as is usual for old celluloid pens. But I gave it a good buff and polish. There is very little to no brassing on the trim. Even the lever, which often have plate wear on these pens, looks good. The nib is a juicy M/B that is ultra soft and smooth. A pleasure to write with. I’d call it more M than B, but to each his own. And it has some great flex up to 2.1mm!

Parker Vacumatic w/ Two Tone Nib – GOOD FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is another iconic pen. The Parker Vacumatic has it’s own cult following and rightly so. They are beautiful and durable pens with an intriguing filling system. This is a “Silver Pearl” style in good condition. It is a blue diamond Debutante size, I believe, with the plastic filler. It has the much rarer two tone nib, which also has decent flex. The chrome plated trim is in good condition, which is kind of hard to come by. There is little barrel clarity. It is an XF and I’ve graded it as “good flex.” The flex isn’t huge, but it has quite good snap back. A stunning, well made pen that won’t disappoint.

Waterman 52 1/2V  – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

A very nice BCHR 52 1/2V. It has minimal browning. The chasing is still pretty good, and the imprints are very crisp. The nickel plated lever is still in good condition. It has a Waterman #2 that writes normally as an XF (0.3mm) and flexes up to BBB (1.8mm). This was a hard nib to grade. It’s a bit stiff for what I would normally grade a Super Flex, but it is quite responsive and the range makes very some very good flexing.

Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a lovely little Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top with patent date 1904. It is in good condition. It does have some light scratching throughout the pen and a very tiny ding on the end of the barrel. But there is little to no brassing that I can see, and the pattern on this pen makes it really come to life in the light. The Wahl #2 nib is a very smooth XXF nib that flexes easily and with fantastic responsiveness up to 1.7mm. Detail flexing is very good and easy.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

A stunning Wahl-Eversharp Skylines. I have a soft spot for these pens. The design just feels right even if it does look a bit abnormal. And the nibs are usually smooth, wet and durable. This Skyline is black with pearlized green/ black pin stripe cap. It is in quite good condition. There is the typical light scratching of celluloid pens, but nothing very significant. The gold trim is in good shape. I could only find a little brassing on the lever. The nib is a bit oblique, so it writes best at a bit of an angle. The obliques doesn’t seem to have any affect on the flexing, however. The flex is a great. This is a super flex nib that goes up to 1.9mm. A beautiful pen.

Conklin Crescent – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is the classic Conklin Crescent pen. No pen collection would be complete without this iconic pen. This pen has browned quite a bit. The chasing and imprints are still good and crisp. It just looks brown.  The spring clip and crescent are both in good condition. There is a hairline crack in the lip of the cap (see pic). The Conklin #2 Toledo nib is a great flex nib that goes from 0.2mm to 1.9mm. It’s got some great spring, and is very easy to get into a nice rhythm flexing. Vintage Wood Grain Pen – GOOD FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is an unbranded woodgrain hard rubber pen. This is a vest size pen similar to a Waterman 52V. Slightly bigger. It feels quite solid and well made. The hard rubber has minimal fading. The gold filled band has a little brassing. The lever looks pretty good except for what appears to be one small chip. The original ring is also missing from the cap. The “Warranted 14kt.” #5 nib is nice writer with good flex. The nib has a good spring even when flexing just a little. A very nice, unbranded pen.

Waterman 52 1/2V  – Good Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a BCHR 52 1/2V in gold trim. There is some browning to the hard rubber, but it is still dark. Brown but a dark brown. The chasing still has some texture, though it is worn a bit. Imprints are crisp. Gold trim is in good condition. Lever has one scratch, but looks new. The gold cap on the cap has one ding, but there is little to no brassing. The ring, however, is missing from the cap. The nib is a very smooth writing XF with  good flex capabilities.
