Waterman 515 – Semi Flex – (On Ebay)
Here is a beautiful made in England Waterman 515 in a lovely burgundy celluloid with golf-filled appointments. The pen is in superb shape. There is very, very minimal surface scratching from normal use. The cigar like barrel feels wonderful in the hand. The gold-filled trim is in near mint condition. Imprints are great. There’s nothing really not to like about this pen. The 14kt. Waterman #5 is a spectacular, wet writing Fine stub. The nib feels wonderful on the page. It would be perfect for those cursive writers out there wanting to add a little flavor to their writing, but it’s also a great nib for those printers (like me). It really brings out the shading in inks. The nib does have some flex ranging decently up to 1.4mm, but it lacks the ease of flex and responsiveness of a higher grade flex nib. That doesn’t mean it’s inferior. It does what it was made to do with excellence.
