Waterman Starlet – Super Flex – (On Ebay)
This is a pretty Waterman Starlet in brown pearl celluloid. It looks similar to a tiger’s eye stone. The pen is in good condition overall. It has some light scratching throughout as is usual, but nothing very deep or noticeable. The gold-filled trim is in overall good condition. There is brassing and even some rust on the rivet on the top of the cap. The thin band also has some light wear. Imprints are very good. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is very smooth and wet XF. A great writing nib. The flex on this nib is quite unusual. Before restoring and inking this pen, I assumed it was a semi-flex nib. But after inking it I discovered that the ink flow is very strong when flexed, but “shut’s off” very well when “unflexed” making it a very nice flex nib that is easy to control. I would still grade this on the lower end of super flex, but it is much better than at first appears. A great little pen.
