Waterma 552 1/2 with 14kt. Overlay and “Ballpoint” Nib – Super Flex   (On Ebay)

Here is a very unusual Waterman pen. It actually has no number designation and does not appear to have ever had one. By it’s size I’m calling it a 52 1/2 (the slimmer version of the 52). This appears to have a factory 14kt. solid gold overlay (as opposed to one added after market). Barrel and cap overlay and the clip all have the designation “14kt” imprinted on them. The cap of the pen was personalized in a gorgeous script that reads what I believe says “Presented by Cantor Rosenblatt to S. Ross.” If that is what it says, it was possible a gift from Yossele Rosenblatt, one of the greatest Jewish cantors of his time. So this is possible a fascinating piece of history. The pen does have some dings and scratches throughout the overlay, though nothing terribly serious. I have attempted to photography some of these (see pics). The pen also comes with the relatively rare Waterman 14kt. #2 “Ballpoint” nib. A ball point was made to allow for many angles of use and was advertised as a good nib for left handed writers. This nib is great condition and has a unique design as the pics show. It is a super smooth writing F nib (0.4mm) that flexes easily up 2.0mm. It has decent responsiveness. What can I say? This is a rare, unusual, very valuable, and perhaps even historical pen with a fantastic nib.
