Parker Duofold – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_8736

Parker Duofold – Wet Noodle  (FOR PRICE SEE HERE)

This is a Canadian made Park Duofold in black celluloid. The pen looks very nice. There is some light scratching throughout as is to be expected. There are a few deeper scratches toward the back of the barrel, but even that isn’t terribly noticeable without look for it. The clip ring is a bit larger in diameter than the cap, and I believe it is not original. The clip sizing for this particular pen is not a typical standard size, and I was unable to locate the correct size. If you didn’t know, you’d just assume that was the way the pen was supposed to look. The only brassing I see is on the ball of the clip. The bands are in great condition. Imprints are still quite good. This Duofold is quite rare, however, in that it sports an ultra flexible wet noodle 14kt. Parker Duofold nib. Duofold nibs are generally very firm, but Parker did produce a very small number of these nibs. The flex on this is very easy, though not quite paintbrush easy. It flexes up to a whopping 2.5mm going from 0.4mm to 2.5mm (a 2.1mm range!). It writes smoothly as a very wet and smooth F (0.4mm). Overall a fantastic pen. FOR PRICE SEE HERE

Parker Lucky Curve Jack Knife “Safety Pen” – Wet Noodle

IMG_8752

Parker Lucky Curve Jack Knife “Safety Pen” – Wet Noodle

Here is a BCHR Parker Lucky Curve in the Jack Knife Safety style. The BCHR has browned a bit and is a very dark brown color. The chasing has is worn though visible. Imprints are also worn though mostly readable. The nickel plated clip has some wear and tiny nicks on the edges. No real significant brassing though. The 14kt. Lucky Curve #2 nib is a very wet, slightly stubbish F. The flex comes very easy and you will definitely flex without trying to. It has great range going from 0.4mm to 2.2mm and is very responsive and snappy. It’s a hundred year old pen in good condition with a snappy wet noodle nib.  (See Price Here)

Mabie Todd & Bard Swan – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_8725

Mabie Todd & Bard “Swan”- Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

Here is a BCHR Mabie Todd & Bard “Swan” eyedropper in just amazing near mint condition. This is a pre-1907 pen (1907 being when Mabie Todd dropped the “& Bard”) and probably pre- 1900. Latest patent date is 1895. Despite it’s years, the hard rubber is still shiny jet black. The chasing is crisp and looking new, and the imprints look as good as the day it was bought new. This pen could hardly have ever been used. This eyedropper has the over/ under feed not uncommon among these very early Swan pens. The only flaw I can really find with this pen is that the cap is a bit loose and is not tight when posted. The 14kt. Mabie Todd nib is a soft, wet noodle nib. It’s not paintbrush soft, but it is still very easy to flex. The beauty of this Swan is that it doesn’t write like a firehose like most of these Swans do. It’s still wet, to be sure, but I would say it’s more of a 7 or 8 /10. And it has a great and smooth writing fine nib. I like it a lot as a writer.  The nib has good responsiveness when flexed. This is a Swan that is in very rare, near mint condition.

Waterman 32 Blue & Creme – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8710

Waterman 32 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a fantastic Waterman 32 in the hard to find blue and creme celluloid. This pen looks very good. I’m a little disappointed in the pictures, as the pen looks better in person. There is some very, very light scratching in some spots on the pen. The chrome plated trim has some wear on it, though nothing so major as to call it “brassing.” The color on the body looks great. Imprints are very crisp. The real star of the pen, though, is the 14kt. Waterman #2 nib. It’s a wet, smooth writing XF (0.3mm) but where it really shines is the flex. The flex is just superb. It has great range going from 0.3mm to 2.3mm (a huge 2mm range). The flex is quite easy. Not quite noodle easy, but very easy. And it very snappy, very responsive. This is a high quality flex nib that is easy to control, has great flow, and is a great writer as well.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8700

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Good Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a classy looking burgundy Skyline in Demi size with pin stripe cap. Pen looks good overall. There is some typical light scratching throughout the pen, though I have buffed a lot of it out. There are some bite marks on the back of the barrel (see pics). There is a little separation between the derby and the cap “sleeve” (see pics). The gold filled trim is in great condition. There is a little spot on the lever that shows some brassing but that’s about it. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a nice, very smooth writing XF. A very lovely writer. About as good as an XF gets. It has some good flex going from XF to BBB (0.3mm to 1.8mm). But it does lack the responsiveness of a super flex and the flows can lag at times. It worked very well, though, with this Pilot Iroshizuku Tsutsuji.

Waterman Starlet – GOOD FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_8684

Waterman Starlet – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

Here a nice looking Waterman Starlet in grey pearl celluloid. The body of the pen is in pretty good condition. The barrel has darkened some. The cap looks about like the original color. There is some light scratching throughout. A few spots where the scratches are a little deeper, but nothing that really stands out significantly. The chrome plated trim is in pretty decent condition. The  lever looks quite good. The clip has a little wear, but nothing major. The rivet that holds the clip has only a little plate loss. The clip is pulled out just a bit from the cap, but it still grips pretty well. The 14kt. Waterman 2A nib is a very smooth writing XF (0.3mm). It is quite wet, soft and springy. A pleasure to use. It has good flex going up to 1.6mm.

Waterman 952V Olive Ripple – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_8597

Waterman 952V Olive Ripple – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 952V (ignore the extra “0” on the writing sample) in olive ripple. This is a standard size 52V but in the rarer olive ripple hard rubber. Much rarer than the red ripples. The pen still has very good color and looks great. There is just a little bit of brassing on a few spots on the edges of the band and lever. The ball on the clip also has some brassing. Otherwise, they all look great. Imprint on the side is worn and not readable. The “952V” is very clear on the back of the barrel. This nib boasts a fantastic 14kt. Waterman #2. It is a very soft, smooth and wet XF (0.3mm) that flexes with minimal pressure. It’s a fantastic writer and a high end super flex nib. It has a max range up to 2.2mm! It has almost wet noodle ease of flex, great, wet flow when flexing, and good responsiveness. This is a rare Waterman pen in great condition with a nib that will not disappoint.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BBB (0.3mm-2.2mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Omas Extra 556 – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8608

Omas Extra 556 – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a very nice Omas Extra 556 Brev. 445846-464162. It’s a pen that was made in the late 40’s for only about a year or so and ceased when the 556/s was introduced. It’s a good size pen measuring 5 1/2″ long. The body is made from Omas’ high quality black celluloid and has an 18KR. (18kt. gold filled) cap. The cap does have light dings typical of gold filled caps throughout, but nothing very obvious. There is some brassing on the crown of the cap and just one little mark down by the lip. The body shows only some very light scratching that you could only see if you looked very closely with light reflecting in the right areas. This is a piston filler works very well and smoothly. The 14kt. Omas nib is, as you would expect from an Omas, an ultra smooth writing F. The flex on this pen is very easy and goes up to BBB (2.1mm). It flexes very, very wet. That means no worries about flow keeping up, but that flow does hurt somewhat the responsiveness of the flexing. If it was a snappier nib it would almost be a wet noodle. When not flexed, though, the nib is not at all overly wet and writes with a medium flow. A very nice and fairly rare pen.

SIZE:  5 1/2″ Capped

NIB: Omas 585 Extra, F to BBB (0.4mm-2.1mm)  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Pen cap and body polished
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly
  • Nib and feed ultrasonically cleaned and adjusted for optimal flow
  • Piston lubricated

Wahl-Eversharp Coral Red – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8579

Wahl-Eversharp Coral Red – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Wahl-Eversharp in their coral red style. The body has darkened some, though the color is pretty uniform. The cap is missing the original tulip clip (the tulip however is of course still there). There are no signs of a break, so you would only know this if you knew what the pen was supposed to look like. The gold filled top of the cap does show some brassing around the top edges. The lever shows just a bit of brassing on its edges as well. The bands look good. There also appears to be some kind of marks, probably from over aggressive buffing, left in a few places on the body (see pic of the biggest mark). You can only see these if you look very closely. I almost missed them. The 14kt. Wahl #2 is a great writing XF. It’s wet and smooth and springy. It also has some good flex up to BBB (1.8mm). The flex is pretty easy and responsive and the flow keeps up very well. A great little pen.

Waterman Stalwart – Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8562

Waterman Stalwart – Semi Flex – (On Ebay)

A very nice Waterman Stalwart in blue pearl celluloid. The pen is in very good condition. The blue pearl body is a very stunning celluloid that shimmers in the light. The back of the barrel does have what appears to be some light teeth marks. They were hard to pick up in a photo. There is a little bit of brassing on the rivet holding the clip on to the top of the cap; otherwise, the gold filled trim looks to be in very good condition with little to no brassing. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is a soft, wet, and very smooth XF. It’s a fantastic nib for everyday writing. Some would call this nib a semi-flex. I have graded it “good flex” because to me it is softer, wetter, and has better responsiveness than most semi-flex nibs. It’s a beautiful Waterman and a great everyday pen.
