Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_9854

Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

A nice Waterman 52V in BCHR. The chasing on this pen is a little worn but still has pretty decent texture. The black hard rubber has faded some to a dark brownish, grayish black. Imprints are all excellent. Very crisp and easily readable. The nickel plated trim is also in excellent condition without any brassing. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a very wet medium stub nib (0.6mm normal writing). I emphasize that it is a very wet writing nib, but it is silky smooth. The flex on this pen is great. Ease of flex is near wet noodle. For how wet the flow it, it still has very good responsiveness. Range of flex is also good going all the way up to 2.1mm. If you like stub nibs, and you like flex nibs . . . this is a dream come true. The best of both worlds in one pen.

Waterman 52V Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_9821

Waterman 52V Red Ripple – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Very nice Waterman 52V Red Ripple with more rare clip rather than ring top. There hard rubber has a little fading, but overall the color is quite good. There are some very small spots of brassing on the clip, band, and lever, but they are very slight. Imprints on these ripples are always tough to see, and this one is pretty worn and isn’t really readable. The “52V” at the end of the barrel is still readable though. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a very nice, smooth writing F nib. Not overly wet. This isn’t a typical super flex nib. It has quite good but not great range (0.4mm to 1.7mm), but what it lacks in range it makes up for in responsiveness. The nib is quite snappy and makes good, crisp flex pretty easy to achieve. Great pen.

Waterman 0552 1/2 – Super Flex/ Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_9676

Waterma 0552 1/2 – Super Flex/ Wet Noodle   (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 0552 1/2 (a 52 with thinner profile and a gold filled overlay). The pen is in very good condition with the exception that it is missing the clip. The gold filled overlay has some light surface wear throughout but little to no brassing. The lever does have a little brassing. Imprints on the end are worn but mostly readable. The black rubber that gets covered by the cap when posted is slightly darker than the unposted section between the overlay and cap. But the BHR is still mostly quite black. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a great nib that is either a wet noodle or very close to a wet noodle. It writes normally as a very wet and smooth 0.4mm F and flexes very nicely up to 2.omm with minimum effort. If it had just a bit more responsiveness I would definitely label it a noodle. Nevertheless, a very nice vintage Waterman.

Vintage Unbranded Eyedropper – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_9689

Vintage Unbranded Eyedropper– Wet Noodle

Here is an old vintage hard rubber eyedropper. It has a pretty solid build with gold filled repousse bands and mother of pearl inlay. The pen is in decent condition. The hard rubber is still quite black with a few spots of fading. It has some light surface wear (scratching, etc.) The gold filled bands has some brassing throughout, and the faceted mother of pearl inlay has some wear on the edges. Also the back band has a slight “tear” and a ding (see pic). This pen sports a larger Warranted 14kt. The nib is quite soft with wet noodle flex. It is not quite a paint brush wet noodle, but it does have great responsiveness (and the sample is with an ink that is prone to gush), and really feels like an XF when flexing. This is definitely a WET noodle. No worries of railroading here. Plus it writes as a very smooth F normally.

SIZE:  5 1/8″ Capped

Waterman 7 Red Ripple – Medium Flex (SOLD)

IMG_9708

Waterma 7 Red Ripple -Medium Flex (On Ebay)

Here is one of the legendary vintage Waterman pens: the large Red Ripple #7. This is a unique 7. It was made in Canada towards the end of the 7s production. Waterman used the newer style clip with the older style lever. They also gave it a “black” band but not a “black” nib. Instead it sports a standard #7 with the circle air hole. Some have wondered if Waterman was using up its last remaining parts for the 7 in this version. The color on this pen is very good. Very little fading. There is wear to the imprints as parts of them have been rubbed off. The “Ideal” in the lever has been worn mostly off as well, but there is little to no brassing on any of the trim. The huge 14kt. #7 nib is a wet, glassy smooth writer. Love writing with this pen. It does have some flex as well going up to 1.6mm. It’s slightly better than many of the “medium flex” nibs I’ve used and thus the grade. A rare and unique pen in great condition.

SIZE:  5 1/2″ Capped

Waterman 52 – WET NOODLE (SOLD)

IMG_9606

Waterman 52 –WET NOODLE

Here a very nice Waterman 52 in BCHR with nickel plated trim. The pen is still quite black and has only browned slightly. The chasing is worn almost smooth on the barrel, though it is still visible. It does have a bit more texture on the cap. The imprints, though, are still quite good. The nickel plated trim are in excellent condition with very little wear on them. The real star of the pen is the 14kt. Waterman #2 nib. Unfortunately, the nib does have two very small (a mm or less) cracks coming out of each side of the breather hole. I have monitored the pen for several months now and the cracks appear quite stable. The nib is what I would classify as a Wet Noodle. It isn’t a paintbrush noodle, but it takes very little pressure to achieve line swells and it has superb responsiveness. It takes little effort to produce very nice flex writing. The nib writes normally as smooth and wet XF/F (0.35mm).

Moore Gold Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_9634

Moore Gold Filled Ring Top – Super Flex

I really enjoy this Moore ring tops. There are very well crafted little pens, and this one is in fantastic condition. The only flaw is that there is a bit of wear on the very back of the barrel; otherwise, there is no brassing or dings. The pen has no personalization and has very little of the typical scratching these pen accumulate over the years of use. The 14kt. Moore nib is a very wet writing F (0.4mm) that flexes quite easily all the way up to 2.0mm. It does not have quite the responsiveness that some super flex nibs have, but with the large range of flex, and with how easy the flex comes, it is still quite easy to do some very nice flex writing. A beautiful little ring top in superb condition.

Wahl-Eversharp Coral Red w/ “Signature” nib – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_9619

Wahl-Eversharp Coral Red w/ “Signature” nib – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Wahl-Eversharp ring top in coral red. The color is still very good with only a little bit of fading on the cap. The pen looks quite stunning in person. There is a little bit of brassing on the lever, bands, and ring top (see pics), but the trim still looks pretty good. There are a couple of bite marks on the top of the cap, but you have to look very close to see them. The feed on this pen is actually a later Wahl-Eversharp feed than what would have originally been on the pen, but these are great feeds and it actually fit better than an of the older style feeds that I had on hand. The 14kt. Wahl-Eversharp “Signature” nib is writes normally as an XXF (0.2mm) and is what I would call a super flex nib. It flexes nicely up to BBB (1.8mm), and XXF tip makes for nice crisp flexing. Excellent pen.

Parker Lucky Curve Ring Top – Semi Flex (SOLD)

IMG_9647

Parker Lucky Curve Ring Top – Semi Flex  – (On Ebay)

Here is an BCHR Parker Lucky ring top. This pen is in excellent condition. The hard rubber is still very black with little to no fading. The pin stripe chasing is still quite crisp. Imprints are very crisp as well. The pen has a patent date of 1911. The gold filled ring top shows little to no signs of brassing. It is a button filler with an almost brand new pressure bar and even the back button looks pretty good for a pen this old. The 14kt. Lucky Curve nib is smooth XF (0.3mm) that feels quite soft on paper. It’s a semi-flex nib that has just a bit of spring to it. Great pen in excellent condition.

Waterman 0504 – WET NOODLE

IMG_9418

Waterman 0504 Eyedropper – Wet Noodle  (See Price Here)

Here is an example of the some the superb quality that Waterman could produce. This is a rare 0504 with gold filled repousse gold-filled overlay. There is little to no brassing on the pen. No dings. By the breather hole in the cap there is a spot where the overlay was chipped, but that is the only defect I could really find. The “0504” on the back of the barrel is still readable though worn some. Cap holds tight. The black hard rubber section and end are still very black. It has the initials “W.A.B.” in a lovely script engraved on its side. The 14kt. Waterman #4 is just a delight to use. It’s not a paintbrush flex nib, but it is so responsive and soft that it really makes flex writing easy. It’s almost dip nib like. Just look how precise the flex can be even within a 5mm square. It writes decently smooth for how fine it is (XXF) and takes just a little bit of pressure to get a larger line. If you are looking for huge flex, this probably isn’t your pen. But if you are looking for quality, crisp flex, this is a great pen. Plus, as a rare, top of the line Waterman of its day, it is highly collectable.  (See Price Here)
