Waterman 42 1/2 Wood Grain – Good / Super Flex (On Ebay)
Here is a fabulous Waterman Safety pen. I believe it is a 42 1/2 though the number imprints is no longer visible. At some point someone removed the surface layer of faded hard rubber to return it to a like new appearance. Everything on this pen is restored and fully functional. The imprints are worn and difficult to read. There is no trim on the pen. If you aren’t acquainted with these safety, they are filled like an eyedropper when the nib is retracted into the barrel. When you remove the cap and turn the back section, the nib emerges from the barrel. They are one of the most intriguing designs in vintage pens, and I personally love them. Since there is a seal over the barrel when capped, you never have to worry about ink leaking into the cap. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a very nice, smooth and pretty wet writing XF. A great normal writer. The flex on this one is right on the border of good and super. It’s a bit stiffer than a typical super flex, but better than most good flexes. Overall, this is a fantastic and collectible pen that is a joy to use.
