Waterman 54 Red Ripple – Super Flex (On Ebay)
Here is a Waterman 54 in the iconic Waterman Red Ripple hard rubber. The hard rubber has faded only a little and still has good character. Imprints are a little worn but still visible and readable. There are a couple of issues with the gold-filled trim. The clip has been been out a bit. In addition to the ball being pulled away from the cap, there is a crack in the clip at one of the top rivets (see pic). I’ve pushed on it a bit and it seems pretty stable for now, but I would treat it with care. There is some brassing on the band and a little bit of scuffing in the lever. The 14kt. Waterman #4 nib is a fantastic writer laying down a buttery smooth and wet F (0.4mm) line. Additionally, the nib has a bit of a stubbish quality giving your line some character. The flex on this nib comes pretty easy going up to BBB (1.7mm) with good responsiveness. Overall, a really nice Waterman that would make both a great writer and give you some nice flex.
