Waterman 12 – Super Flex / Wet Noodle (On Ebay)
This Waterman 12 eye dropper (pat. date 1903) has a smooth black hard rubber body (no original chasing) with two gold-filled repousse bands. The hard rubber is still very black with very little fading. The imprint on the cap has a little bit of wear but it is still easily readable. The “12” on the end of the barrel looks great with some of the original red paint still present. The gold-filled bands are also in great shape with no brassing that I can see. This 12 is in fantastic condition. The 14kt Waterman #2 is also a great nib. It writes a lovely, wet and smooth XF (0.3mm) line with a normal hand. When flexed the nib has a great bouncy, responsive feel to it. The flex comes very easily going up to BBB (1.6mm). The softness of the nib isn’t paintbrush soft, but I graded it as a high super flex near wet noodle due to its superb responsiveness. This is a perfect example of why vintage flex pens are so appealing.
