Waterman 52V Red Ripple – Wet Noodle

Waterman 52V Red Ripple  – Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

Here is a Waterman 52 in black hard rubber with beautiful gold filled trim. The body is pretty black. The chasing is faded a bit, so I’m guessing someone went through the process of buffing off the oxidized layer of hard rubber on the surface to reveal the black hard rubber underneath. The gold filled trim looks great with no signs of brassing except for the very front tip of the clip’s ball. The bands appear to be after market additions and have what I believe are the artists imprints on them. The front band also has the initials “W.L.” inscribed. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is really interesting. It appears that this nib sustained some damage at some point to the very tip (probably was dropped on the tip). It has been realigned, but the tip is still slightly creased. It does not affect the performance of the nib in the slightest, but is a cosmetic blemish. The nib performs as a ultra soft wet noodle nib with fantastic, near dip nib responsiveness. It writes as a lovely XF (0.3mm), but very little pressure is needed to get line variation. This would be a perfect nib for calligraphic writing such as copperplate.
