Waterman 503 – Good Flex – (On Ebay)
The 503 is a celluloid pen made in England in the late 40s. This has a beautiful silver/ pearl striated pattern with gold filled trim. Waterman pens of this era are, in my opinion, underrated. They rather durable, generally have fantastic nibs, and are quite stunning in appearance when well maintained. And this pen is in excellent condition. There is brassing on the top of the clip, but that is about it. There is also a small imperfection on the cap where the celluloid looks dinged (see pic). Probably just briefly touched by something small and hot. The nib is a wonder 2A XF with good flex. This is a very good “good flex.” Probably borderline “Super flex” because of the ease of flex. The nib is smooth and the flex is very smooth. It’s a pleasure to write with.
