Waterman 3 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here a Waterman 3 in great condition. This is black celluloid pen in a similar style to the 52, though a bit smaller. The black celluloid body has some light scratching but I have buffed out much of it. The chrome plated trim is good condition with little to no plate loss. Imprints still remain very crisp. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is  a nice one with good flex. It ranges from F (0.4mm) to BBB (2.0mm). It writes normally very well as a smooth Fine with just a hint of feedback. A very little hint of feedback. It’s a nice pen.

Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top #2 Nib- Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a nice 3 5/8″ Wahl gold-filled ring top. Over the pen is in good shape but does have a few blemishes. The most obvious one is that the pen is missing it’s ring on top of the cap. There is also a small ding toward the back of the barrel (see pic) and one on the top of the cap (see pic). There is little to no brassing, however, on the pen. Though it does have some small scratches here and there. There is no personalization on the pen. The 14kt. Wahl #2 nib is very nice. It has super flex ability and ranges from 0.4mm (F) to 2.2mm (BBB). The nib is quite smooth though not overly wet.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a standard size Skyline in burgundy with a gold-filed cap and trim. This pen is in fair condition. The gold filled cap has quite a few dings and tiny scratches throughout, as well as some plate loss on the lever. There are also some very small scratches at the end of the barrel. The 14kt. Eversharp nib on this pen, though, is very nice. It’s superb writer. Smooth and wet. The flex has decent range going from a F (0.4mm) to BBB (1.8mm). It is a bit on the stiff side of super flex. I probably would have graded it good flex but the nib is pretty responsive making crisper flex still pretty easy. The feed is also fantastic at keeping up. No railroading with this pen. So if you don’t mind a bit extra pressure on the nib, it is still provides very good flex.

Waterman 414  – SUPER FLEX (See Price Here)

Here is a Waterman a fantastic Waterman 414. Basically it’s a Waterman 14 eyedropper with sterling silver filigree, and this one is in excellent condition. The black hard rubber has very minimal fading. The filigree is still on great condition and has no personalization. The clip looks good with just a few very small scratches. Imprints are little worn, but still very readable. Even the patent date imprint on the feed is still good. This Waterman #4 nib is close to being a noodle. It just doesn’t quite have the ease of flex of noodle, but it is close. Still, it’s a great nib that writes as a wet and very smooth F and flexes big. Waterman 12 PSF – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

The Waterman 12 PSF is essentially the same pen as a 52 before Waterman changed their numbering system in 1917, which dates this pen pre-1917. The BCHR is in overall good condition. The rubber has faded some, but the chasing is still very good. Imprints are all very crisp. The nickel trim is also in great condition with few signs of wear. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is fantastic. It’s a very smooth Fine that has some great flex up to 2.0mm. Not only is the flex quite easy, but is also very responsive. It’s getting very close to wet noodle status, but not quite there. Still a great pen.

Wahl-Eversharp Doric – Super Flex –  (On Ebay) 

Here is a Wahl-Eversharp Doric in black with gold-filled trim and a nice Eversharp “Flexible” nib. The pen is in great condition. It does have some light scratching throughout the pen, which always more obvious in glossy black. The gold filled trim is in good condition. I can only see one tiny spot of brassing on the crown of the lever. The pen was a “Lever-Vac” model, which means it has a ink window in the barrel, but the section inside the barrel has lost most of it’s transparency so it does little good. The star of this pen, though, is the Eversharp 14kt. “Flexible” nib. This is really a borderline noodle. That is, it’s very close to the border between “super flex” and “wet noodle.” It writes normally as a very smooth XF nib that is not overly wet, but it flexes is great ease and very good responsiveness to 1.8mm. Fantastic pen.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay) Here is a beautiful standard size Wahl Eversharp Skyline in black with gold filled trim. This Skyline is in great condition. There is some very light scratching on the body that has mostly been buffed out. Other than that, there isn’t really anything wrong with this pen. The gold filled cap is in near mint shape with no dings, scratches, or even signs of much wear. The pen looks to have hardly been used. The clip and lever are also in great condition with the lever having just a touch of wear on a couple tiny places on its edges. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a very wet and smooth fine that has a great range of flex going all the way up to 2.2mm.

Conklin Student Special – Medium Flex (On Ebay)

This is a Toledo made Conklin “Student Special” in BCHR. This is a vest size pen and is missing its original ring top. The hard rubber has faded to a dark brown and the chasing is pretty worn. Imprints are also quite worn and are just barely readable. These are a bit thicker than some ring tops. They are closer to the size of a Waterman 52V than a 52 1/2V. The gold filled band and lever are both in good condition with little to no brassing. The 14kt. Conklin Toledo “S.S.” (student special) nib is a nice XF that writes quite smooth. It also has some flex going up to 1.4mm, but it is a bit too stiff to graded higher than medium flex. Some would call this a semi-flex.

Waterman 0552 – Wet Noodle 

Here is a gorgeous Waterman 52 with an 18kt. gold filled overlay done by the Italian company Kosca. These were quality overlays that are quite rare and desirable. The body is stamped “18KR,” which refers to 18kt rolled gold in Italian. When my wife saw the pen she said, “Wow. That looks like the pen of someone who wants to make a statement.” The body does have a few dings but not many and not large. The clip is bent out a bit. The lever does show some wear on the nickel plating. The gold filled overlay, however, does not show any signs of brassing at all. It’s a pen with decent weight that sits well in the hand and feels fantastic. I will say that I had very little to do with restoring this pen, which was just recently restored by an historic pen shop in Milan. But as classy as the pen is, the nib is the real star. It’s a 14kt. Waterman #2 that really feels more like a dip nib than a fountain pen nib. This is not a daily writer. It’s needle point XXXF (0.1mm). It’s the finest nib I’ve ever had on a fountain pen. And just like a needle point dip nib, this isn’t going to be that ultra smooth writer. It can make the finest of hairlines. It’s also a remarkable responsive nib that feels almost as close to a flex dip nib as you will find. It’s not a paintbrush in terms of ease of flex, but it is quite easy. Wahl Eversharp Lady’s Size –  Wet Noodle 

Here is a pretty little Wahl-Eversharp in a green, pearl, and black agate. The pen does have some discoloring as is common with these pens. The cap has quite a bit less than the barrel. The gold filled trim is in good condition with little to no brassing. The imprint is only partly readable. This pen, however, has an outstanding nib. It’s a 14kt. Wahl-Eversharp “Signature” nib. It’s quite rare to find a Signature nib this flexible. The nib is right between an XXF and XF at 0.25mm, but you would never know it is that find because it is extremely smooth. An absolute joy to write with. And of course it has great flex. This is a very responsive nib that flex up to 2.1mm (BBB+). A fantastic portable pen with huge potential. See Price Here
