Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay) This is a great Skyline in standard size with a burgundy body and gold filled cap and trim. Overall, the pen is in excellent shape. There is only light scratching throughout the body as is typical for these pens, but much of that has been buffed and polished out. The gold filled lever, cap sleeve and clip are all in great shape without any brassing. The 14kt. Eversharp nib on this pen is superb. It is a very wet medium (0.6mm) that is ultra smooth and soft. A real joy to write with. It also has some soft flex that goes up to 1.8mm. It has decent responsiveness and the feed is plenty wet to keep up. Still, my favorite part of this pen is how great it writes.

Waterman 54 –WET NOODLE  (See Price Here)

Here is a Waterman 54 in BCHR. The black hard rubber has faded some to a dark grayish brown. The chasing has a little wear, but is still pretty crisp. The imprints are all crisp. The nickel plated trim has some light wear but no plate loss. The nib on this pen is just incredible. It’s a factory fine italic with a bit of an oblique that writes smooth and wet from a “normal” writing angle. The flex on this pen is a very soft, paintbrush level flex that goes from 0.6mm to 2.3mm with ease. The italic grind on this nib makes flex work have that much more character and offers a tremendous amount of potential. This is a rare nib to find. Wet noodle 54s are not easy to discover, but a wet noodle italic! I’m kind of freaking out about it. If you love italics and you love flex, this may be your dream pen.  (See Price Here)

Mabie Todd Swan 3220 with Factory Stub- Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a made in England Mabie Todd Swan self filler #3220. It is made of navy blue celluloid. The pen is in excellent condition. There is very little brassing on the gold trim. A little on the ball of the clip. My two favorite features of this pen are first that it has metal threads which look classy and provide stability to the barrel. And second, the section screws into the barrel making repairs, internal cleaning, etc. simple. The pen does have some light scratching throughout the body, but I’ve buffed and polished a lot of it out. The 14kt. Mabie Todd nib is a wet writing factory stub (0.7mm) that also flexes with ease up to 1.9mm. If you love stubs and you love flex, this is your pen. This gorgeous nib is a bit of an oblique, but writes well with a “normal” pen angle.

Carter’s Ring Top – Semi-flex (On Ebay)

This Carter’s ring top is in fantastic condition. The green body has no fading that I can see, and that goes for the black hard rubber ends as well. The gold-filled trim is in good condition. There is a slight bit of brassing on the bottom edge of the bottom bottom, but no other brassing that I saw. There are also just a few tiny dings in the ring top. Imprint is good and clear. The 14kt. Carter’s INX nib is a nice writing XF/F (0.35mm) that is smooth with medium wetness. It does have a bit of flex, but just a bit. Still not a beautiful pen in great condition.

Waterman 52 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a nice Waterman 52 in BCHR. The hard rubber is faded a bit to a dark grayish brown. There does not appear to be any plate loss to the nickel plated trim, but there is some scratching and wear. Side imprint is worn and only readable in parts, but the “52” on the back of the barrel is clear. This is an unique 52 as it had threads that are inset to the barrel (see pic). Usually the threads are flush or occasionally wrapping around the outside of the barrel. This is the first 52 I’ve seen with threads like this. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a nice writing XF (0.3mm) with a medium wetness. It flexes up to BB or 1.7mm. It isn’t a huge range and really most of your flexing will be in the 1.1-1.4mm range, but the nib is quite responsive, and does not require a lot of pressure. It also does small, detail flex work quite nicely.

Waterman 3V – SUPER FLEX 

Here is a Waterman 3V in black with chrome trim. The pen is overall in good condition. There is some light scratching on the body throughout. Some deeper scratches on the back of barrel from posting the cap. There is a little bit of wear on the clip and lever, but they still both look pretty decent. Imprints are all crisp. The real star of this pen, though, is the 14kt. Waterman #2 nib. It is a superb flex nib nearing almost wet noodle quality. It is an XXF (0.2mm perhaps a little wider with a wetter ink) and flexes very softly up to 1.6mm. This nib would be easy to over flex, so it should be used with care. Still, it is very snappy and makes high quality flex easy to achieve. It just seems to respond to the slightest pressure changes. If you are looking for an artist quality nib, this maybe it.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay) Here is a beautiful Wahl Eversharp Skyline in black with a gold-filled cap. The pen is in standard size (5 1/4″). There is some light scratching throughout the pen, but nothing very serious. Most of it buffs out pretty good. The gold filled trim does not have any brassing that I can see. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a wet (but not crazy wet) F with a very nice sweet spot. The flex is quite large and wet going up to 2.0mm. However, the nib does have the snap back higher grade super flex nibs. Still its a great pen in excellent condition.

Waterman Stalwart – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

I believe this is a made in the USA Waterman Stalwart (as opposed to a Starlet which I wrote in the photo. Oops.) in a lovely brown pearl celluloid. The pen is in pretty good condition. There is only light scratching on the body which you pretty much cannot see. These 40s Waterman pens are always underrated in my opinion. The celluloid patterns are beautiful, and the nibs are always superb. The chrome trim has some scratching but no plate loss. The clip is bent slightly out (see pic), but top rivet is tight. The 14kt. Waterman nib is an ultra smooth pillowy nib. Just a fantastic writer. The flex is decent. Pretty snappy and wet, but too stiff for a super flex. Many would call this a semi-flex. Still a little pressure gives you a good swell. And did I mention its an awesome writer.

Wahl-Eversharp Doric – Good/Super Flex – (On Ebay)

This is a black Wahl-Eversharp Doric in the smaller vest size. These were high quality pens made by Eversharp and named “Doric” after the Doric columns of Greek architecture. This pen has seen some use. It has light scratching throughout and some places with some small deeper scratches. There is a deep scratch going through the “Eversharp” on the cap. The gold filled clip has lost much of its plating, and the lever has lost almost all of it. The band looks good though. The 14kt. Eversharp nib reminds me of the Eversharp “Signature” nibs. It is a soft, smooth, and lovely writing nib. The flex on this is quite easy and I have graded this pen on the border between Good and Super flex. The range of flex is a bit limited only going up to 1.6mm, but it has good ease of flex and great responsiveness. High quality flex writing comes easy with this pen.

Mabie Todd Swan- Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a Mabie Todd Swan SM2/60 or a Swan Minor with a #2 nib in black hard rubber. The black hard rubber on this pen is still very black. Chasing and imprints are still pretty crisp. There are bite marks on the ends of the cap and barrel. More on the cap than the barrel. The nickel plated clip has some wear and minor pitting, but still has maintained a good bit of it’s plating. The larger, black lever still looks pretty good. The nib on this pen is interesting. It’s a 14kt. #2 Mabie Todd Swan nib with an oblique F. Despite its significant obliqueness, the nib does write very smoothly at a “normal” writing angle. It’s a smooth F with medium wetness. The flex on this pen is very large going up to 2.1mm and doing so pretty easily. The feed pours a lot of ink out very quickly. Not a pen to use on cheap paper, but a great pen for big and wet flex work. If you like sheen in your ink, this is your pen.
