Waterman 54 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This is a great vintage Waterman 54 in BCHR. The chasing on this pen is worn smooth. In fact, the chasing pattern is even hard to see and the only imprint visible is the “54.” The color has faded to a dark brown. There is a large and beautiful gold-filled band on the barrel with some initials engraved in script. There is a bit of wear on the band, but it still looks quite good. There is a little bit of brassing on the top edge of the cap band and a little bit on the edges of the lever; otherwise, the trim is in good condition. Unfortunately, there is what looks like a small burn mark on the top of the barrel. The 14kt. Waterman #4 is a great nib that writes as a soft, smooth XF (0.3mm) and has medium wetness. Great writer. It has some nice and quite responsive flex going up to BBB+ (1.8mm). You can do some nice flex work with this one.

Wahl-Eversharp Doric Kashmir (XXF Signature Nib) – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is Wahl-Eversharp Doric in Kashmir. The body is in great condition with only very light scratching on the body. The gold-filled clip, lever, and band are in great condition with no brassing. The 14kt. Eversharp Signature nib is a great nib. It’s a very fine XXF. Perhaps even a XXXF. It’s somewhere between 0.1 and 0.2mm. Normal writing has a bit of a scratch as would be expected from so fine a nib. The flex goes up to 1.3mm (BB). I’ve graded this a “good flex” because the flex range isn’t huge, but the extreme fineness of this nib makes this flex have a “super flex” like quality. Kashmir Dorics are hard to come by in such beautiful condition, and if you enjoy XXF nibs this is for you.

Moore B-2 Ring Top Eyedropper – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a small Moore B-2 ring top eyedroppper in BCHR. The BCHR has faded in color some to a very dark brownish black. The chasing is quite good still and the imprints are pretty crisp. The gold filled ring top cap is in good condition with light scratching but no brassing. The 14kt. Moore #2 is a superb XF. It’s wet and beautifully smooth. A fantastic normal writer. Additionally, it has some great flex going from 0.3mm (XF) to 1.7mm (BBB). The flex comes quite easily and responsiveness is good. Overall, a nice portable vintage pen with both great normal writing and flex writing abilities.

Mabie Todd Swan Gold-Filled Ring Top Eyedropper – Oblique Italic / Super Flex   (On Ebay)

This is a very interesting made in New York Mabie Todd Swan. It’s gold-filled ring top that is also an eyedropper. It has some light scratching on the body but no brassing. There are also a few tiny dings. On the barrel and on the cap there are some very small imprints of symbols that I do not recognize and are not very noticeable. The 14kt. Mabie Todd Swan #2 is an unique Fine Oblique Italic (0.5mm). The oblique angle is pretty significant. That makes italic writing easier, but that also means it has a learning curve in using it. It is plenty wet and can be smooth if you hold at the right angle. The flex comes quite easy and ranges up to BB (1.5mm). The oblique italic tip enhances the already snappy flex and makes for a very unique writing experience. I quite enjoyed using it. You must learn to use it at the right angle or you’ll get railroading. Overall, it’s a great, and unique Swan.

Mabie Todd Swan Self Filler – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a Mabie Todd Swan Self Filler. The body has some light teeth marks on both ends of the pen. The gold-filled clip and band are in good condition without brassing. The lever has some light pitting throughout. The 14kt. Swan #2 nib is a wet F (0.4mm) that is quite smooth. The flex range is huge going from F (0.4mm) to BBBB (2.0mm). Responsiveness is decent. Not amazing but good enough to do some nice flex work. Ink flow is great and has not trouble keeping up.
