Wahl Gold-Filled Pen #3 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a lovely Wahl Gold-Filled pen (not a ring top as stated in the sample). These Wahls come in various sizes. This is a middling size with a #3 nib and comes with a clip as opposed to a ring top. The body is in excellent condition with no dings that I could find nor any personalizations. There is only a touch of brassing on the end of the barrel due to posting the cap. Any other wear is very minor. It still looks beautiful. The #3 Wahl nib is a smooth XF (0.3mm) that has good flow but isn’t overly wet. The range of flex on this nib is impressive going from XF (0.3mm) to BBB+ (1.8mm). Ease of flex is a bit on the stiffer side as is typical for Wahl and Eversharp nibs, due to their generally thicker build than some of their contemporaries. It’s a durable high quality vintage Wahl with a great nib.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Skyline with a gold-filled cap and gold-filled derby to match. The pen is in very nice condition overall. The navy blue body has only minor surface scratching and has buffed shiny and smooth. The lever has a bit of wear and some gold loss on it’s peak due to posting the cap. The cap does have some minor scratching on the derby, and some very small dings here and there, but it is void of any brassing. The Eversharp 14kt. is a wet and buttery smooth F. It’s a glorious writer and well living up to the famed quality of vintage Eversharp nibs. It’s flex is good but not a “super flex.” It ranges from F (0.4mm) to BB (1.6mm). The flow is good and keeps up well. Responsiveness is decent. It just lacks the ease of flex to grade in the “super” category. Still, this is a beautiful Skyline that is a superb writer and offers some decent flex.

Waterman 52 1/2V  – Good Flex  (On Ebay)

This Waterman 52 1/2V is in overall good condition. The black smooth hard rubber body (no original chasing) has faded to a medium brown. The imprints, however, are nice and crisp, and the gold-filled trim is also in very good condition. The trim does have a little bit of wear from normal use, but shows no signs of brassing or pitting. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a rare XXF. It writes pretty smooth for an XXF (0.2mm) and has good flow. The flex on this nib is also pretty good ranging up to BB (1.6mm). However, the flex is a bit too stif for a “super flex” grade, and it also lacks a bit of the responsiveness one would expect from a XXF super flex nib. Thus, the “good flex’ grade. Still, if ultra fine is your thing, this is a great vintage nib in a small, portable pen.
