Wahl-Eversharp Doric (“Signature” nib) – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Doric (“Signature” nib) – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

The Doric’s were the top luxury pen in the Wahl-Eversharp line up. There is just no skimping on the materials for these beauties. This Doric is of the 1st Generation. The cap is free from the lip cracks typical of these 1st generation models. However, the 1st generation plastics are very susceptible to “crazing,” and the the top of the cap has started to develop some crazing including a crack that started to develop. Apart from that unfortunate blemish, the bronze and green material of this pen is simply stunning. Pictures don’t do it justice. There is no brassing on the gold-filled trim. There is scratch on bottom of the lever that you can see in certain light, but it’s a surface mark. The “Signature” nib was meant to be a balance of smooth, everyday writing while adding the flair of flex. I’ve had “Signatures” that are barely semi-flex and at least one wet noodle. This is a “super flex.” Flex comes relatively easily, and though the range isn’t massive (F-BBB / 0.4mm-1.6mm), it is quite snappy and responsive. Normal writing is lovely. The F tip with plenty of iridium is soft and smooth and on the wetter side. This is a beautiful pen.

Waterman 52 – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 52 – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 52 in BCHR that is in excellent condition. The BCHR is still very black with just a little bit of fading. The chasing on this pen is crisp as are the imprints. The “52” on the end of the barrel still has the red paint. There is minimal wear on the clip and lever with no brassing. The pen looks new. It still has the shine of a new pen. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is also a beauty. It is a long and slender tined super flex. The nib does have a slight ding on the end of the right tine just behind the tipping, but it has no effect on the writing of the pen. With normal pressure, this nib writes as a super fine “XXF.” There is just a hint of scratch as you would expect from so fine a nib. The nib flexes wonderfully up to BBB (1.8mm), so a huge range going from XXF to BBB. As you would expect from so fine a nib, it has a beautiful snappy and responsive feel to it. A great nib for artists and scripts like Copperplate. This pen is rare and desirable in multiple ways. First, it’s not easy to find BCHR Waterman 52’s in this kind of condition. And second, the most desirable nib out there right now is a XXF-BBB flex nib.

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly

Waterman 0552 1/2 V – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 0552 1/2 V – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This Waterman 0552 1/2 V is in overall good condition. There are a few very minor dings. For example, one looks like a tiny pin prick size ding. There is no personalization (which atypical of these pens). The floral etching looks amazing and is in great shape. On the edge of the barrel where it meets up with the section, there are a couple spots of brassing due to capping and upcapping. Also there is some wear, but not really brassing, one the end of the barrel from posting the cap. Lever is in great condition. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a lovely writing XXF nib. Very nice writer for such a fine nib. Had a little trouble grading the flex on this one. I would call it on the lower end of “super flex.” The range doesn’t go huge and ease of flex is good but not superb, but that XXF makes it nice and snappy providing for excellent line variation and crisp flex. Overall, a beautiful ring top.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Gold-Filled) – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Gold-Filled) – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Skyline in gold-filled cap, derby, and barrel. The barrel has three small dings on the reverse side of the lever, and one ding on the top of the derby. Other than that the pen is in great condition. No brassing. No plate loss on the lever, clip, or cap side edge of the barrel. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a glorious, wet writing F/M (0.5mm). It is very wet. So if you like wet, you will like this one. If not, then it’s probably not for you. The flex ranges up to a monster BBBB (2.0mm!) with ease. It is nearing wet noodle status but it isn’t quite there. The heft of the gold-filled body feels really nicely balanced even when posted. I really like the feel of this one in the hand. A great, not that easy to find, Skyline.

Wahl Gold-Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl Gold-Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This little Wahl gold-filled ring top is a beauty. The condition is excellent. There is no brassing and really hardly any significant marks. There is a very slight ding on the end of the barrel (see pics), and there is some scratching under the cap from screwing the cap on and off. The wave pattern etched into the pen really catches the light and looks gorgeous. There is no personalization on this pen. The only real flaw is that the lever doesn’t quite hug tightly against the body when and sticks out just a bit (see pics), but the lever and bar work just fine. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is pure joy to use. It will spoil you. It writes wet and butter smooth. It’s a 0.5mm F / M nib has a bit of stubbing character to it. It flexes with ease and some really nice responsiveness up to BBB+ (1.8mm). The flow keeps up great. This is a durable, portable take everywhere (nib up of course) that feels similar to a #2 pencil when posted but with a massively superior writing feel. And it has an awesome flex nib.

Waterman 0752 1/2 – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 0752 1/2 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This Waterman 0752 1/2 (the 07 refers to the gold-filled band and trim) is in superb condition. The smooth hard rubber (no original chasing) has faded a bit to a dark blackish brown. Really it looks more black than brown. The imprints on the side of the barrel have faded some and are only partially readable. The gold-filled trim looks pristine. There is no brassing. Maybe some very, very light micro scratching on the band from use but hardly much of anything. The lever and clip look really sharp. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a smooth writing F (0.4mm). The nib is not a gusher but flow keeps up well. It’s a nice nib for everyday writing especially if you don’t care for the wet nibs typical of vintage pens. The flex on this nib is also very nice ranging from F to BBB (1.7mm). Ease of flex is decent, not amazing. Responsiveness is pretty good. Flow is fantastic and keeps up without issues. It’s an all around nib: it does everything well. And it’s in an all around lovely pen that looks great and has no flaws or issues.
