Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) with Fine Stub – Super Flex (SOLD)

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) with Fine Stub – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a Skyline in Navy blue with gold-filled trim. The pen is in excellent condition. The body shows only very light surface scratching from normal use. There is one little spot on the barrel near the cap that shows a slight depression. It’s hardly even noticeable. The trim is also in good shape with only a single very slight ding in the back of the cap. The lever has a little bit of plate loss on the crown due to posting the cap. The clip looks great. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is pure joy to use. It is a juicy Fine Stub nib (0.6mm) with soft, super flex capacities. The tip of the nib does have some marks. They almost look like teeth marks, which is odd. But there they are. Normally, this pen writes buttery smooth with good line variation. When flexed this nib ranges from 0.6mm to 2.0mm. Since it is a stub, it will railroad some if you aren’t holding the nib properly to the paper while flexing. A great Skyline with a pretty rare flex stub nib.

Waterman 14 with 14kt. Gold Band – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 14 with 14kt. Gold Band – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This Waterman 14 eyedropper in black hard rubber is trimmed out with a gold-filled clip and a solid 14kt. gold large band on the barrel. The initials “W.E.L.” are etched into the band in a beautiful script. The chasing on the pen is worn smooth and only partially visible on the barrel. I am not sure whether the cap is worn completely smooth or if it never had any chasing. The 14kt. gold band covers the original barrel imprints. The “14” on the end of the barrel is clearly readable. The hard rubber has faded to a dark, blackish brown. The 14kt. Waterman #4 nib is a smooth writing F (0.4mm) that is not overly wet. It has excellent flex capabilities going up to a BBB+ line (1.8mm). Unfortunately, the nib has a tiny crack extending from the breather hole back towards the “Waterman” imprint, though it goes only about half way to the imprint. The flex comes pretty easy and is pretty responsive.

Mabie Todd Swan Eyedropper w/ Gold-Filled Overlay – Super Flex (SOLD)

Mabie Todd Swan Eyedropper w/ Gold-Filled Overlay – (On Ebay)

This is an all around gorgeous Mabie Todd Swan eyedropper pen. The gold-filled overlay is just stunning and screams luxury, collectible pen. The overlay is in great condition for the most part with a few exceptions. Wonderfully, there are no dings in this beauty. It was well used, but very well maintained. I say well used because there are some places toward the bottom of the barrel where fingers have worn down the pattern etched into the overlay. There is also brassing on the end of the barrel from posting (though it’s actually tough to distinguish without looking very closely and knowing what to look for). Finally a bit of the edges of the overlay have chipped of the section likely from capping. This is pretty typical in these overlay pen. There is a personalization on the barrel with the initials “J.T.B.” (I think) and the date 1912. The 14kt Swan nib is a total delight. Normally it writes as an XXF (0.2mm). It is pretty wet for such a fine nib and fairly smooth with just a little scratch as you would expect. The flex is wonderful, wet and very responsive. This is a high quality flex nib that makes crisp flex writing easy.

Waterman 32 – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 32 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a lovely 32 in a burgundy marble finish. This is one of my favorite colors of the Waterman celluloid pens of the middle late 30s. The chrome trim has some wear, especially on the band, but it is all still distinctly chrome silver in appearance. The body has some light scratching through from use, but no major or deep scratches. Imprints are all very good, and the color on this pen is really lovely in my opinion. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib on this pen is really outstanding. It is a soft super flex nib. Not quite a noodle soft, but approaching it. It writes normal as a soft, bouncy XXF. The nib is quite smooth for how fine it is. The bulk of the pen (it’s similar to the bulk of a 52) and the celluloid body combined with the nib make this pen a wonderful normal writer. Add to that it’s great flex ability, and it’s stunning. The flex ranges up to BBB (1.6mm) and has a nice bouncy, responsiveness to it. All around wonderful pen.

Waterman 12 – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 12 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a lovely Waterman 12 eyedropper in BCHR. The black hard rubber is faded a bit into a very dark blackish brown. The chasing, however, is still very nice with some good texture left on it. Imprints are perfect and easy to read. There is a gold-filled repousse band on the cap with no brassing that I saw. There is tiny crack in the lip of the cap (see pic), but this will not expand thanks to the cap band. There are also some teeth marks on the section (see pic). The 14tk Waterman #2 is a lovely writing XXF nib. The nib does not have a huge range of flex going up to BB (1.5mm), but it is definitely good enough to pair with the XXF point. Ease of flex is on the low end of “super flex,” I would say, but the responsiveness of the nib caused me to grade it as I did. R & K Cassis (the ink I used) doesn’t emphasize responsiveness that well, which makes the nib’s snappiness that much more impressive. If you are looking for something that makes big, paintbrush lines….this isn’t it (though I do sell those as well). But if you want something for a more Copperplate style, this is a nice choice.

Parker Lucky Curve True Blue – Good Flex (SOLD)

Parker Lucky Curve True Blue – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a Parker Duofold style pen in the iconic “True Blue” style. I believe that this is a “Junior” size, but I could be mistaken. The “True Blue” has faded and yellowed as is typical on these pens. The body more so than the cap, which is fairly close to the original color. There are a few very small scratches from normal use on the pen, but nothing obvious or major. The black hard rubber ends have also faded to a gray brown. Trim looks goods with no brassing. The 14kt Parker Lucky Curve #2 is a glorious writer. It is buttery smooth and wet, and it has a soft, springy feel to it. The flex on this nib comes easily, but the range is not massive. It goes from a F (0.4mm) to BB (1.3mm). The ease of flex is super flex quality, as is the responsiveness (it’s very snappy). The range, however, puts it more in the “good flex” grade. It does railroad occasionally after you’ve been flexing awhile, but it picks right back up. Overall, a very nice Parker in a very desirable color.

Waterman 52V Wood Grain / Red Mottled – Super Flex (SOLD)

Waterman 52V Red Mottled – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is one of my favorite size vintage Waterman pens, the 52V, in wood grain / red mottled hard rubber. The 52V when posted has the feel of a 52 and when capped has the portability of a ring top. And this one is in tremendous shape. The hard rubber has barely any fading. The gold-filled trim is also in great shape. The lever has just the tiniest bit of brassing on the edges of the “globe” section, but you have to look very closely to see it. Side imprint is visible but partially worn and unreadable. The “52V” on the end is still crisp. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a very wet writing F. It’s smooth and a good writer, but if you don’t like wet writers you won’t prefer this nib. If you do, well then… The nib also has some soft flex. The flex is also very wet and ranges from F to BBB (0.4mm to 1.7mm). If you want to get some monster sheen, this pen will do it. The wetness cuts down on the responsiveness a little bit, but it still has a nice bounce. Overall, this is a great pen, in a great size, in great condition, and with a wonderful, wet, flexy, nib.
