Waterman 32 – Wet Noodle (Artists Nib)  (See Price Here)

First the formalities. This is a standard black Waterman 32 with chrome trim. The body is well cared for. There is some light scratching throughout due to normal use, but overall this pen is smooth, polished and shinning jet black. The trim has also very faint scratching, but there is no plate loss. Imprints are good and crisp. Now to the nib. This is a “wow” nib. It’s paintbrush soft AND responsive. That is a very difficult and rare combination to acquire. This is about as close as you can get to a dip nib in a fountain pen. The nib flexes so easily that it isn’t great for normal writing. The tines just flex too easily, and since it’s an XF that will make it feel rather scratchy. Feels very much like trying to write normally with a dip nib. This nib takes a light touch, and probably isn’t the best for beginners. Not a particularly rare pen model, but a very rare nib. Perfect for artists and calligraphers.

Waterman 452 1/2 – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This Waterman 452 1/2 comes in a sterling silver basket weave filigree overlay. The overlay does have some small scratches throughout due to normal use of the pen. There are no major dings, and the pen is in pretty good condition considering it’s age. The hard rubber underneath has faded some to a dark brown. The lever doesn’t quite lay perfectly flat, but it does click into place as normal. There are no personalizations on the pen. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a lovely nib. It isn’t an ultra smooth writer and has just a hint of feedback. It also has some nice character to it. Almost stubbish. I really enjoyed writing with it. The flex on this nib is soft and easy. It doesn’t have a huge range maxing out at 1.5mm, but it is very snappy and responsive. It makes quality flex writing feel easy.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This Skyline comes in the smaller Demi size and has a black body and cap with gold trim. The body has only very light surface scratching, and much of that came out with a bit of buffing. There is a little bit of plate loss on the crown of the lever from the cap being posted. There are also some very, very tiny nicks on the edges of the clip. Finally, there is a bit of plate loss on the edge of the band as well. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a beauty. Normally, the nib writes a F line that is wet and very smooth. It is an exceptional writer in my opinion and a joy to use. It also flexes quite easily up to 1.6mm (BB+). It has decent, though not exceptional, responsiveness and plenty of ink flow to keep up with whatever you are writing.

Waterman 52 1/2V Red Ripple – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a lovely Watermant 52 1/2 V with a ring top in red ripple hard rubber. The red ripple hard rubber does show some fading and thus a bit of dulling of the original red ripple color, but it still has plenty of color left. The imprints are very crisp with little to no fading. The gold-filled trim is also in excellent condition with no signs of brassing on the lever, band, and ring top. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is a very fine (XXF) and lovely writing nib. It is quite smooth for how fine it is. The flex on this pen is in on the stiffer side of super flex, but the responsiveness is superb. Although the max width of the line isn’t enormous (1.5mm), it is plenty large enough to get quality line variation due to the XXF nib and to the snappy responsiveness of the nib. A beautiful little pen with impressive writing abilities.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a standard size Skyline in burgundy with gold filled trimming. The body of this pen is in good condition with just some very light scuffing from normal use. There is a bit more scuffing on the section, and it looks a bit duller than the body as a result. There is no brassing or plate loss on any of the gold-filled trim. There are a few small dings on the cap (see pics). The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a lovely writing XF with some flex. Normal writing in this pen is superb. The nib is smooth and elegant. A great writer. It also has some decent flex going up to BB (1.6mm). It’s a bit stiff to be a graded super flex, but it does have some nice responsiveness. Skylines are known for being great writing pens, and this nib makes a great experience even better.

Waterman 52 V Red Ripple – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This is a beautiful 52V in Red Ripple hard rubber in very nice condition. The fading on the red ripple hard rubber is very minimal, and the pen body is still popping with bright color. The imprints are still pretty good and easily readable. The gold-filled trim looks good as well, but does have a few spots of brassing. These include a couple of small spots on the lever, a little on the ball of the clip, and a couple tiny spots on the “Waterman’s” on the clip. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is a good one. It’s a very nice, wet writing F (0.4mm) with a soft and smooth sweet spot. The line the nib produces does have a little bit of character to it, but I wouldn’t call it a stub. The flex on this pen is lovely as well. It flexes easily up to 1.8mm. But the real joy is just how snappy and responsive it is. It’s easy to achieve some beautiful calligraphy with this nib. A gorgeous red ripple Waterman with superb flex nib. What more can you want?
