Waterman 14 PSF – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8141

Waterman 14 PSF – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This is a very nice Waterman 14 PSF (the predecessor to the 54). The pen is in good condition. The BCHR has faded to a dark brown but it is pretty uniform. The chasing is worn but still has a little texture. The imprints are also worn a bit but are clearly readable. The nickel-lated lever is in great condition with no visible plate loss, and the clip has a bit of plate wear but is in overall good condition. The 14kt. Waterman #4 is a nice very smooth writing F. It does have abrasions to the top of the nib, but it does not affect the performance (just appearance). The flex on this is smooth and easy. Almost wet noodle caliber. If it had a bit better responsiveness, it might have graded as a wet noodle. It was a little finicky about ink. Some of my Diamine inks railroaded quite a bit in in. But more lubricated and saturated inks like the Sailor ink I used or Pilot Iroshizuku inks flowed beautifully. Even Noodlers Black Swan, which can be a temperamental ink, flowed great in it. Not sure what the issue was with the Diamine inks.

Waterman 12 – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

Waterman 12 Eye Dropper – SUPER FLEX  (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 12 Eyedropper with patent dates of 1889 and 1903 and clip pat. date of 1905. The pen is in good condition, but the smooth (no original chasing) black hard rubber has faded to a dark brown with some parts a bit lighter than the others. The is crack free and it does have an original Waterman Clip-Cap Clip. The clip is nickel plated and has some plate wear, but it is mostly in good shape. The imprints are worn, though readable. The Waterman #2 14kt. nib is a smooth writing XF nib with great flex. It writes quite wet (typical for a vintage eyedropper), and feels more like a F nib. However, when flexing it has some great responsiveness and really does feel like an XF when doing flex writing (hope that makes sense). This nib takes little pressure to flex and goes all the way up to 2.1mm. It is very close to a wet noodle. It’s really on that border between really great super flex and lower end wet noodle. Great vintage flex pen!

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BBB (0.3mm-2.1mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 52 – WET NOODLE (SOLD)

IMG_8098

Waterman 52 –WET NOODLE  (SOLD)

Here a great Waterman 52 wet noodle in BCHR. The pen is in good condition. The BCHR has faded some to a dark brown and does have some small spots here and there of lighter discoloration. The chasing is worn but still has some decent texture. The imprints are worn but readable. The inscription “Mrs. J.W. Rinker 1245 E. Oak Street” is imprinted in the side of the barrel above the Waterman imprint. The nickel plated lever is in great condition with little to no plate loss. There is and was no clip to this pen. The real story of this pen, though, comes with the nib, which is just phenomenal. The Waterman #2 is a paintbrush flex noodle with a huge range and good, springy, responsive action. I’ve listed it as an XXF, but it’s pretty hard to grade because it takes an extremely light hand to write without flexing. It goes up to 2.5mm easily. It is not an easy nib to control because of its extreme ease of flex. This is an extremely rare noodle nib of your dreams.  SOLD

Waterman 12 Sleeve Filler (Rare) – Wet Noodle

IMG_8081

Waterman 12 Sleeve Filler – Wet Noodle  See Price Here

Here is one of the most rare filling systems you will find on a Waterman. The pen has a sleeve hiding an opening in the barrel where there is a bar that you push to fill the pen. You simply slide the sleeve back, immerse the pen, and push the bar. These have a slip cap similar to a 12 eyedropper, but a bit longer. The BCHR is faded to a brown and the chasing is worn but not entirely without texture. The imprints are still pretty good and very readable. The squeeze bar has lots most of it’s original paint. The pen sports a very nice 14kt. Waterman #2 that writes superbly as an XF. Very smooth. It also has some great flex going from 0.3mm to 2.3mm. This is not a paintbrush wet noodle, and really is on the border between super flex and wet noodle as far as ease of flex is concerned. But the nib is very responsive and easy to control. A great and rare pen. See Price Here

Waterman 12 – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_8037

Waterman 12 Eye Dropper – SUPER FLEX  (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 12 Eyedropper with patent dates of 1889, 1903, and 1905. The smooth BCHR (no original chasing) has faded some and particularly on the barrel, which is more brown than the cap. The nickel plated clip has some wear though most of the nickel is still present. The main blemish on the pen is that there is a small crack in the lip of the cap directly below the clip. The crack does seem stable. Imprints are still pretty crisp. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is very smooth writing XXF nib. Why can’t they make nibs like this anymore? It has great flex ability. Not only does it flex quite easily, but it has a very good range going from 0.2mm to 1.9mm. The flow very good and the nib is quite responsive. Great 100 + year flex pen.

Wahl BCHR Flat Top – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8049

Wahl BCHR Flat Top – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

This BCHR Wahl Flat Top is in good overall condition with one obvious flaw. The clip of this pen broke off at some point and left a hold in the cap. The BCHR is faded some to a very dark brown with a few very small spots of discoloration on the cap. Chasing is worn, though visible. The imprints are also worn but readable. Patent on the cap dates to 1904, so over a hundred year old pen here. The gold filled lever has only two very tiny spots of brassing. The star of the pen is the 14kt. Wahl #3 nib. This nib is a phenomenal writing F/M. It’s at least as smooth as my Pelikan M800 B and maybe even smoother. Like writing with a pillow. Amazing. It also has some nice flex, and though it is on the stiffer side of super flex it has a great range going up to 2.2mm! If you don’t mind a hole in the cap, this is a great pen.

Waterman 94 – Good Flex (SOLD)

 IMG_8068

Waterman 94 – Good Flex  (On Ebay)

This is a Waterman 94 in Moss Agate celluloid, which is a green and silver marble pattern with red flecks. The pen body is in good shape with only light scratching. The chrome plated clip has some scratches on it and the clip is a little loose. The chrome band has some scratching as well as plate loss. The lever looks pretty good. It has the name “Gerald C. Bowen” inscribed in the side of the barrel. The 14kt. Waterman #4 nib is a very smooth writing XF/F nib with some good flex. It is a bit too stiff to be a super flex but still capable of some nice flex writing.

Waterman Rare “Machine” Pen – Semi-Flex (SOLD)

IMG_8023

Waterman Rare “Machine” Pen – Semi Flex (On Ebay)

This is a very unusual vintage Waterman pen. It’s shorter than a Waterman 52V measuring at just under 4″, but it is also a bit thicker than a 52. It is made of smooth black hard rubber with no original chasing. It is filled by unscrewing and removing a tube from the back of the barrel, filling that tube with ink like an eyedropper, and then screwing the tube back into the barrel. It was attached to a machine by the small band shown that was attached to a chain. I have removed the band, but I will include it in the sale. The band left an indentation in the barrel as well as some scratching from being there from many years. The hard rubber is still pretty black with just a little fading. Imprints are still pretty good, though the “IDEAL” on the back is a bit worn on one side. The cap is a slip cap and posts very well on the back of the pen. The 14kt. Waterman #4 nib writes very smooth as a F, and has a little bit of flex up to 1.2mm. I’ve never seen a pen like this before, though I’m sure there are more out there somewhere. Still a great find, and it works extremely well.
