John Holland Ring Top – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7733

John Holland Ring Top – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

John Holland was a high quality pen maker that operated out of Cincinnati, OH.  This is a red hard rubber ring top that is in very good condition. The gold filled is in good condition with little to no brassing. There is light surface scratching on the pen if you look close (like magnification close), but nothing very noticeable. Imprint is still very crisp and has a patent date of Sept, 1915. The 14kt. original John Holland nib is a very nice and smooth writing F (0.4mm) that flexes up to 2.0mm. The pen flexes well, and I have graded it as super flex. It doesn’t quite have the responsiveness of a higher quality super flex, but it does have great flow that keeps up very well.

Vintage Ring Top – Medium Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7743

Vintage Ring Top Pen – Medium FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is an unbranded, vintage ring top pen in a gorgeous vibrant green and white marbled celluloid. The pen appears to be of a good quality and the celluloid pattern is stunning. The gold-filled trim is in good condition with only very slight brassing on the lever. The nib on this pen is not, I believe, original. It is a 14kt. EHCO (Eggens & Hambler Company). It writes normally as a glassy, smooth F (0.4m). The flex on this can go up to 1.9mm. On the writing sample, I graded it “Good/Medium Flex,” but  I think I would just call it Medium Flex. Though it has good range of flex, it’s a bit stiff and lacks the good responsiveness of a higher grade flex. Still it’s a stunning pen.

SIZE:  4 3/8″

NIB: EHCO 14kt., F to BBB (0.4mm-1.9mm),  MEDIUM FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Sheaffer Balance

IMG_7772IMG_7777

Sheaffer Balance  (On Ebay)

This is a standard size entry level, non-Lifetime Sheaffer Balance in brown celluloid. The pen is in very good condition. It has only very light surface scratching that you can only see by looking very closely and most of which was buffed and polished out. The gold filled trim is in great shape with little to brassing. The ink window in the section also has good clarity. The nib is a 14kt. Sheaffer F (0.4mm) that writes very smoothly. It’s definitely not a gusher but it’s also not terribly dry. Probably a 4/10 in wetness. Nice pen.

Conklin Crescent Gold Filled Pen & Pencil – Wet Noodle

IMG_7488

Conklin Crescent Gold Filled Pen & Pencil Combo – Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

This is a Conklin Crescent gold filled ring top pen and pencil combo that is in excellent condition. It will come in the original Conklin pen box. The box has wear but is still in good condition, and snap closure works well. There are a few tiny dings on the cap in the personalization box (there is no personalization in it), and a couple of tiny dings on the end of the barrel. I saw one very small ding on the pencil. I see no brassing on either piece. The 14kt. #2 Conklin Toledo nib is a near paintbrush wet noodle nib. Almost any pressure at all will make it flex. It takes a very light hand to write normally. It is a wet F/M nib (0.5mm) that flexes up to 2.4mm with ease.    See Price Here

SIZE:  4 1/4″ Capped

Waterman 52V Red Ripple – Wet Noodle

IMG_7705

Waterman 52V Red Ripple  – Wet Noodle (See Price Here)

This is a Waterman 52V Red Ripple that appears to have been made for a European market. It comes with nickel plated trim which is pretty unusual for red ripples, and nickel plating over brass, even more unusual. The pen does have some fading. The imprints are a little worn but very readable. I believe the pen originally had a clip and was later replaced with an accommodation clip. The accommodation clip does have significant wear to the plating. There is just a little bit of brassing on the cap band, but the lever appears to be free of plate loss. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is a fantastic flex nib. It writes as a F/M with a bit of line variation making feel a bit stubbish. It is quite wet but not so wet that it is sloppy. The wet noodle flex isn’t quite a paintbrush, but it is still very easy. You will flex without intending to and the range is huge going up to 2.4mm, and that’s without really pushing it. It also is quite responsive. A fairly unusual Waterman pen with a nice wet noodle nib. (See Price Here)

Waterman 94 Blue & Cream Marble – Super Flex (SOLD)

 IMG_7693

Waterman 94 Blue & Creme Marbled – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a stunning Waterman 94 in one of the rarest and most desirable colors of Waterman 94s. It is a blue and cream marble. This pen is in near mint condition. The color of the celluloid has little to no fading. The chrome plated trim is in excellent condition with no plate loss. Imprints are fantastic, and really this pen looks to have hardly been used. The 14kt. Waterman #4 nib may not look the part, but it is a very good flex nib. I listed it as an XF (0.3mm), but really that is rounding up. I could just have easily listed it as an XXF. It is a very smooth XF/XXF nib that has a nice easy flex up to 2.0mm and with good responsiveness. It’s a high quality flex nib that is also a great everyday writer. And the pen is gorgeous and in mint condition.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex! (SOLD)

IMG_7668

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

This is a very well preserved standard size Wahl-Eversharp Skyline in burgundy with a gold-filled cap. The pen is in great condition. I cannot even find the normal light scratching to the body typical on these pens, except for the are scratched by the cap being screwed and unscrewed. The gold-filled trim is in superb condition with no signs of brassing. The only ding I could find on the cap is hid behind the clip. The gold-filled exterior on the cap is really a sleeve slid over the cap. This “sleeve” is just a little loose but it does not really slide around and certainly does come off. I only noticed because I always test for such things as it is a common issue with these pens. This Skyline comes with a very rare 14kt. Eversharp XXF nib (0.25mm). These pens are normally in the F/M range and are very, very wet. It has a great flex nib with very good control that goes up to BBB (2.0mm). About as good as you will find in a Skyline.

Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal Coral Red – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7658

Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal Coral Red – Super Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a beautiful Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal ring top pen in coral red. This highly desirable color is an red and orange swirl that is quite stunning. There is just a slight bit of color fading as can be seen from an area near the top of the cap that is slightly lighter and brighter (you can see this in the pictures). But it is a minimal difference. The gold-filled trim is in excellent condition with little to no brassing. The lever does have a few small scratches on it as you can see in the pics. The pen comes with a 14kt. Wahl “Signature” nib. It’s writes normally as an XF (0.3mm), and it is an absolute pleasure to use. It feels like your writing on a cloud. It also has a nice ease of flex that goes up to BBB (1.8mm).

Parker Lucky Curve Ladies Size (SOLD)

IMG_7714

Parker Lucky Curve Ladies Size  – (On Ebay)

This is a Parker Lucky Curve pen in smooth black hard rubber. It’s a smaller vest size pen or ladies size. The black hard rubber has faded to a dark brown. The imprints are worn and barely readable. The gold-filled  cap band is in good condition with little to no brassing. The nickel plated clip, I believe, was not original to the pen as it should be a gold-filled clip. Nevertheless, it is the correct size and style and does give a nice two-tone look to the pen, though it does have a little bit of plate loss. The band is engraved with a very intricate Gothic style script and reads “G.A.P.” The 14kt. Parker Lucky Curve #2 nib is a smooth writing F/M (0.5mm). It has a nice medium flow. It also has a little bit of flex.

Parker Gold-Filled Lucky Curve Ring Top – Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7677

Parker Gold Filled Lucky Curve Ring Top – Good Flex  – (On Ebay)

This is a small Parker Lucky Curve gold-filled ring top. The pen is in excellent condition showing no signs of brassing. If you look very close there are a few tiny dings here and there, but nothing that would show up on a photo. Pen is engraved with the initials “F.U.C.” The 14kt. Lucky Curve nib is a very smooth writing XF (0.3mm). It has some good flex ability for such a small nib and the feed keeps up pretty well. It does not quite have the ease of flex that a super flex would have. Still a nice portable and durable little beauty to add to your collection.

SIZE:  3 1/2″ Capped
