Wahl BCHR Flat Top with Roller Clip – Wet Noodle

Here is a very nice full size Wahl flat top pen in BCHR. The pen is in overall very good condition. The BCHR has dulled a bit but is still very black. The gold filled trim is in very good condition with just a little bit of brassing on the lever. There are a few teethes marks on the section. The chasing is still good and crisp and the imprint is very readable though has a little wear on it. The 14kt. Wahl #2 nib is a great flex nib. This is what I call a borderline nib. It’s right on the border between a very high end super flex and a lower end wet noodle. I’ve graded it more a lower end wet noodle. It is very good responsiveness and a range from XF to BBB (0.3mm to 2.2mm). It writes normally as a soft and smooth XF. A great pen.  See Price Here

Conklin Crescent Vest Pen – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is the classic Conklin Crescent pen in a vest pen size. It is a P33 model. This pen has some significant fading of the hard rubber making it a medium brown throughout. I kind of like the vintage look but some don’t. The imprints are still visible and readable, but they do have some wear. This pen’s latest pat. date is 1903. There is an “Unscrew” imprint on the cap, but it’s very worn. The barrel ring does have a small chip out of the top of it, but it is a whole and complete ring. The gold filled trim all looks good. The pen does not appear to have ever had a clip or ring top. The 14kt. Conklin Toledo nib is an ultra buttery smooth F (0.35mm) nib that has great flex range up to 2.2mm. The flex on this pen is easy and quite responsiveness. This is a higher end flex nib that is approaching wet noodle status. A nice vintage pen.

Waterman 52V Cardinal Red – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is a Waterman 52V in the hardest hard rubber to find, the Cardinal Red. This pen is in good condition but does have some blemishes. The main issue is that there was some light teeth marks on the end of the barrel and to top of the cap. I buffed a lot of these marks out, but I could not remove all evidence of them. So if you look close you can tell that the ends of the pen are not quite as smooth as the whole body, but you do only see up close. The gold filled trim is in good condition. There is a tiny little ding on the band and a tiny spot of brassing on the lever. The imprint is worn but still readable. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is fantastic. It’s a soft, butter smooth XF (0.3mm). It’s just a pleasure to write with. And it has a nice springy, responsive flex that ranges up to 1.8mm. It’s a great nib and a great pen.

Waterman 5 – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a black celluloid Waterman 5 in black celluloid with chrome plated trim. Overall, the pen is in good condition but does have some blemishes. There are some light scratches throughout the pen, but I have buffed and polished out a good bit of it. Imprints all look very good. There is some plate wear on the clip. It just looks scratched a bit. And the lever has a little plate loss.  The band is in good shape. The large 14kt. Waterman #5 nib is a very smooth fine that is not overly wet. It has a good flex range from 0.4mm to 1.8mm (F – BBB). I have graded the nib as a super flex, though I would say this is a lower end super flex nib. Still it has good responsiveness and is pretty easy to do some nice flex writing with.

Waterman Lady Patricia – MEDIUM FLEX  (On Ebay)

This is a beautiful Waterman Lady Patricia in agate celluloid. This is not one of the Ink Vue versions of the Lady Patricia, but a standard lever filler. The pen is in very good condition. There is some discoloring of celluloid, but it still looks very good. There is very little scratching throughout. The gold filled trim in in excellent condition with little to no signs of brassing, and the imprint looks very good. The 14kt. Waterman #2 nib is an uncommon XXF. The nib does have some flex going up to 1.4mm but it lacks the ease and responsiveness of a higher grade flex nib. Still the XXF writes incredibly smooth for such a fine nib. Great little pen.

Waterman Stalwart – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

This is a pretty Waterman Stalwart in brown pearl celluloid. These pens were made in the 40s and come with Waterman’s military style clip. The body of the pen shows very little scratching. The imprint is very good. The gold filled trim is in excellent condition with a little brassing on the rivet on the top of the cap. The Waterman #2A 14kt. nib is a superb flex nib. It writes as a very smooth but just a little stubbish Fine, but it flexes up to 2.1mm (BBB). It has very easy flex and very good responsiveness and control.

Conklin Crescent – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is the classic Conklin Crescent pen.  This one is in a ring top/ vest pen size. It is in very good condition. The BCHR has very little if any fading. It’s still jet black.  The imprints are also very crisp. The latest listed patent date is 1903. It does have the initials “G.M.B.” inscribed on the band (see pic). The only real blemish the pen has is that a ring scratch has developed around end of the barrel from the repeated posting of the cap. The 14kt. #2 Conklin Toledo nib is a fantastic flex nib. It writes normal as a smooth XF/F (0.35mm), but flexes all the way to BBB (2.1mm). It has great ease of flex and good responsiveness making it easy to control. A great all around pen in fantastic condition.

Waterman 52 1/2V Cardinal Red – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

This is a nice little Waterman 52 1/2 V in Cardinal Red hard rubber. The red hard rubber is fairly rare in Waterman’s, and these pens have quite a retro look about them. This pen is in very good condition. Imprints are very good. Gold filled trim shows little to no brassing. The 14kt. #2 Waterman nib is an ultra buttery smooth Medium stub. It’s wet and feels like a pillow on paper. It also has very good flex ability up to 2.1mm. You will get some railroading if you really push the flex on this nib, but with a good ink and not maxing it out repeatedly you get some very good flex.

Waterman 555 – Medium FLEX (On Ebay)

Here a beautiful Waterman 555 in a grey pearl and navy pinstriped celluloid. This pen is just over 5″ and is a bit thicker than a 52 (12mm at the barrel vs. the 11mm of a 52), so it is a good sized pen. These pens have the “Deluxe” three banded (thin-thick-thin) cap with military clip. This were top tier pens from Waterman and carry the large #5 nib. This pen is in excellent condition. The body is in great shape with only some light scratching. The clip does have some marks on in it (see pic); otherwise the trim looks great. Even the “Ideal” globe on top of the cap looks great. The 14kt. Waterman #5 nib is a much sought after XXF (0.1mm!) that writes pretty smoothly for how fine it is. This pen only flexes up to about 1.3mm, but with an XXF as your starting point you don’t need much. In the right hands this is still a pretty good flex nib.

Parker Vacumatic Double Jeweled  (On Ebay)

Here is a superb black double jeweled Vac lock down filler in great condition. Very little scratching on the body. Looks almost new. Imprint is good. Gold trim looks silky with no brassing. Pen measures 4 3/4″ long capped. Barrel is about 12mm in diameter. Comes with a smooth writing XF 14kt. Parker arrow nib.
