Wahl BCHR Flat Top – Wet Noodle

Wahl BCHR Flat Top with Roller Clip – Wet Noodle

Here is a very nice full size Wahl flat top pen in BCHR. The pen is in overall very good condition. The BCHR has dulled a bit but is still very black. The gold filled trim is in very good condition with just a little bit of brassing on the lever. There are a few teethes marks on the section. The chasing is still good and crisp and the imprint is very readable though has a little wear on it. The 14kt. Wahl #2 nib is a great flex nib. This is what I call a borderline nib. It’s right on the border between a very high end super flex and a lower end wet noodle. I’ve graded it more a lower end wet noodle. It is very good responsiveness and a range from XF to BBB (0.3mm to 2.2mm). It writes normally as a soft and smooth XF. A great pen.  See Price Here

Conklin Crescent Gold Filled Pen & Pencil – Wet Noodle

IMG_7488

Conklin Crescent Gold Filled Pen & Pencil Combo – Wet Noodle

This is a Conklin Crescent gold filled ring top pen and pencil combo that is in excellent condition. It will come in the original Conklin pen box. The box has wear but is still in good condition, and snap closure works well. There are a few tiny dings on the cap in the personalization box (there is no personalization in it), and a couple of tiny dings on the end of the barrel. I saw one very small ding on the pencil. I see no brassing on either piece. The 14kt. #2 Conklin Toledo nib is a near paintbrush wet noodle nib. Almost any pressure at all will make it flex. It takes a very light hand to write normally. It is a wet F/M nib (0.5mm) that flexes up to 2.4mm with ease.    See Price Here

Parker Lucky Curve Custom Overlay – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_7474

Parker Lucky Curve Customized – Wet Noodle

Here is a gorgeous and rare Parker Lucky Curve in the Duofold Junior size that was customized probably for a foreign market. I am not sure if the eight faceted overlay is sterling silver or nickel, but it is fantastic condition. There is only one tiny ding on the barrel. The hard rubber top and section are very black, and clip is also in excellent condition. I found this pen already restored, so other than looking it over carefully, replacing the nib, and polish it up a bit, I did very little. The 14kt. Lucky Curve #2 is a fantastic wet noodle nib. Very soft and smooth with excellent responsiveness making it easy to control. It is an XF nib that flexes all the way up to 2.1mm. Stunning example of a foreign market customized Parker. See Price Here

Wahl-Eversharp Doric “Flexible” nib – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7390

Wahl-Eversharp Doric  with “Flexible” nib – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a pretty little 1st generation Wahl-Everhsharp Doric in Ladies size. It is in “Morocco” (red/ruby swirl). The pen is in good condition. There is some light scratching throughout, but the honestly the pen looks more scratched in the photos than in person. There is a bigger scratch coming up from the band on the cap on one side. Also, it appears that half the cap has had its facets smooth and more rounded. The gold filled trim is in excellent condition. I could see some brassing on the band with magnification and one tiny spot on the lever. This Doric comes with an Eversharp “Flexible” 14kt. nib. It is an XXF/XF (0.25mm) nib. It’s a great nib with good responsiveness and is almost a wet noodle in terms of ease of flex. A beautiful, quality vintage, flex pen.

SIZE:  4 1/2″ Capped

NIB: Eversharp “Flexible,” XXF/XF to BBB (0.25mm-1.8mm),  SUPER FLEX  (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Vintage Gold Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7365

Vintage Gold-Filled Ring Top – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This is a quality, unbranded, vintage, gold-filled ring top pen. I found the pen with a damaged Aikin Lambert nib, so this could be an Aikin Lambert. It is certainly of that quality. This pen is in excellent condition. The only dings are a couple tiny ones on the end of the barrel. There is no brassing on the pen. The pen threads exceptionally well and smoothly. The only down side to this pen is that it posts very tightly. It will post, and that is how I prefer to use it, but it is very tight.  I put on the pen a fabulous “Warranted 14kt. #2” nib. It is an XXF nib that flexes easily and with great responsiveness up to 1.8mm. It has great detail flex as well. This nib gives you a lot of control. The XXF writes pretty smooth for how fine it is also.

SIZE:  3 7/8″ Capped

NIB: Warranted #2, XXF to BBB (0.2mm-1.8mm) SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Boyden & Smith BCHR Flat Top – Med/ Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7378

Boyden & Smith Flat Top – Med/ Good Flex

Here is a full size vintage BCHR lever-filled flat top pen made by a company called Boyden and Smith. I have not heard of them and could not find any information on them. It’s bigger than a Waterman 52 measuring at over 5 5/8″. The hard rubber of this pen is in great condition with no fading and very crisp  chasing. The imprint is also very good. The nickel plated lever is in good shape, but does have wear visible with magnification. The end of the barrel has thread to screw the cap on when posting, which is a nice feature. The 14kt. unbranded nib is a smooth and wet Medium. When you first start writing with the pen it is very wet, but the flow gradually recedes as you write. The nib flexes up to 1.9mm but lacks the responsiveness of better flex nibs. Still, not bad.

SIZE:  5 5/8″ Capped

NIB: Warranted 14kt.,  M-BBB (0.5mm-1.9mm), Medium FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly
  • Nib and feed ultrasonically cleaned and adjusted for optimal flow

Waterman Emblem – Medium Flex (SOLD)

IMG_7420

Waterma Emblem – Medium Flex (On Ebay)

Here is the later version of Waterman’s Hundred Year Pen, which they renamed to Emblem. These pens are large. I believe this is the “standard” size, but don’t let that fool you. The cap is 15.5mm in diameter and the barrel is over 13mm. I’ve included a pic of this nib compared to a Waterman #2 nib just to give some perspective. This Emblem is in great condition with only very light scratching. The gold filled trim is in very good condition as well. The lever appears to have some nicks on the sides, but they are mostly hidden when the lever is pressed down. The large 14kt. Emblem nib is smooth F that has some flex to it. It has decent range (0.4mm – 1.7mm), but is too stiff in my opinion to be graded higher than medium flex. But the size of this pen and the cigar shaped barrel make it great for writing.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman “Emblem”,  F-BB (0.4mm-1.7mm), Medium FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

CONDITION: Excellent

Restoration Work:

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Body and trim polished
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly
  • Nib and feed ultrasonically cleaned and adjusted for optimal flow

Waterman 7 with RED nib – Super Flex (SOLD)

 IMG_7322

Waterman 7 with RED nib – Super Flex  (On Ebay)

Here is a black celluloid Waterman 7 with a “RED” nib. The body of the pen has only light scratching which has been reduced after some good buff work. Imprints are all very good. The clip is a bit loose on the cap but still clips, and it has brassed around its edges. The gold-filled band also has some brassing in some places along the edges, and the lever only has very slight marks of wear. The highlight of the pen is certainly the big 14kt. Waterman #7 “RED” nib. It is a very smooth F (0.5mm) that flexes quite easily all the way up to 2.1mm. These nibs alone are very collectable, and this is a very nice one.

SIZE:  5 3/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #7, F to BBB (0.5mm-2.6mm),  Super Flex  (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

CONDITION: Good

Restration Work:

  • Pen (barrel, section, nib, feed, & cap) thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Nib and trim polished
  • Nib and feed ultrasonically cleaned

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex! (SOLD)

IMG_7298

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

This is a standard size Wahl-Eversharp Skyline in Navy Blue. The pen is in good condition with only some minor flaws. There is some light scratching throughout the pen, though I have buffed out a good bit of it. On the cap around the bottom of the clip there is some deeper scratching where the clip dug into the cap (see pic). The gold-filled trim is in quite good condition. There is a little spot of plate lose on the lever, and a tiny dent on the bottom clip band. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a wet F that writes smooth. It flexes big up to 2.2mm with good flow and decent responsiveness.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Eversharp 14kt., F to BBB (0.5mm-2.2mm) SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 555 – GOOD FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_7296

Waterman 5116 – GOOD FLEX (On Ebay)

Here a beautiful Waterman 5116 in a light brown marbled and pinstriped celluloid. This pen is just over 5″ and is a bit thicker than a 52 (12mm at the barrel vs. the 11mm of a 52), so it is a good sized pen. It has the classy three piece gold-filled thin-thick-thin band. It is a 40s era pen. The pen is in very good condition. The body has no serious scratch marks and the imprints are good. The gold-filled bands and lever are in good condition with only minor signs of wear. The rivet holding the clip in at the top of the cap is worn with signs of rusting, and the right top edge of the clip shows some wear (see pics). The 14kt. Waterman #5 nib is a super, glassy smooth XF (0.3mm) with some decent flex. It has a range of 0.3mm to 1.7mm. It has pretty good ease of flex, but doesn’t quite have the responsiveness of a super flex nib.

SIZE:  5 1/16″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #5, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.7mm),  GOOD FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)
