Waterman 52 – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_5834

Waterman 52 – Wet Noodle  (See Price Here)

This Waterman 52 is made of BCHR and is in great condition. The BCHR is still quite black. The cap, which was and is a clipless version, looks near mint with crisp chasing and jet black color. The chasing on the body is more worn, though visible, and has faded a bit to a duller black. The side imprint is worn, though mostly readable. The “52” is very crisp with the red dye still present. The nickel plated lever is in good condition with only minimal plate loss. The 14kt. Waterman #2 is fantastic. It is a very juicy, smooth writing fine with enormous amounts of flex. If you don’t write softly, the tines will spread and ink and the nib will write more like a very wet Medium. The flex is very easy, though not a paintbrush, and goes all the way up to 2.8mm. It is rather responsive as well and makes for some big and crisp looking flex writing.

Waterman 52 1/2 – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_5827

Waterma 52 1/2 – Wet Noodle   (On Ebay)

This Waterman 52 1/2 is made of BCHR that has faded to a dark brown. The chasing is also almost worn off entirely on the body, though still visible on the cap. The side imprint is worn, but readable. The “52 1/2” imprint is good. The nickel plated lever is good overall with only minor plate loss. There is also some scratching on the cap. The nib, however, is a fantastic Wet Noodle. This Waterman #2 Canadian nib is an XXF (0.2mm) that flexes all the way to 2.0mm. Flex is very easy. It isn’t quite a paintbrush, but it is very close to that feeling. The XXF makes for some great hairlines. The nib does require that you keep your hand from rolling while flexing, or you will see some railroading. If you use a good flexing ink like Pilot Iroshizuku, you will see very little railroading.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline w/ Gold Derby – Super Flex! (SOLD)

IMG_5818

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay) This is a beautiful Skyline in standard size. The barrel is black celluloid. The body, which is black, is in very good condition with only very light scratching. It’s been buffed and polished and looks great. The gold-filled derby looks great as does the rest of the cap. On the lip of the cap, there is one spot where the lip has been pushed in slightly (see pic). There are also a couple of very, very tiny dings in the cap. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is fantastic. It has a huge flex range going from a F (0.4mm) all the way up to 2.5mm. The flex is quite easy and quite responsive. The nib is very smooth and wet but not overly so. It’s a great writer with great flex. This Skyline looks and behaves superbly.

Conklin Endura -Good Flex (SOLD)

IMG_5821

Conklin Endura – Good Flex – (On Ebay)

This is a Conklin Endura with a Conklin Endura nib. It is in a brown and black pattern and made of some sort of early plastic. The brown flakes shimmer just a bit in the light. There is light scratching throughout the pen. The imprints are good. It has the personalization “C.E.M.” on the side of the barrel. There is plate loss on the top and bottom of the clip. There is also a little bit in spots on the cap band and a little at the bottom of the lever. The 14kt. “Endura” is a very juicy F that still writes with the characteristic “character” of a Conklin. It has a great flex range going all the way up to 2.0mm, but it’s just a bit too stiff to be called a super flex in my opinion. A great writing pen especially if you like them juicy.

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Good Flex

IMG_5831

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline (Demi) – Good Flex (On Ebay)

Here is a green Skyline with gold filled trim in Demi size. The pen is in pretty good condition. It does have a couple of very small nicks in the cap. I tried to take a picture of them, but they are hard to see. It has the typical light scratching these pens acquire over time, but I have buffed and polished out a lot of it. It still shines. There is some plate loss on the lever, but the rest of the trim is in good condition. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a soft, very springy XF. The flex on this is quite easy. Writing takes a light touch or you will be writing with a thicker, wetter line. Many would call this a semi-flex, but the flex is easy enough and responsive enough to make even this lower flex range look pretty good.

SIZE:  4 7/8″ Capped

NIB: Eversharp 14kt., XF to BB (0.3mm-1.3mm) Good Flex (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Nib and feed adjusted for optimal flow
  • Nib tuned to write smoothly
  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed

Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

IMG_5776

Waterman 52V – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here a nice Waterman 52V in BCHR. This is one of my favorite sized Watermans. It has the bulk of the 52 and feels like one when posted, but is also a compact ring top. The black hard rubber has faded some to a blackish brown. The body is more black than the cap. The chasing is still pretty good, though a bit worn. There are a few teeth marks on the section. The imprints are all pretty good. The nickel plated lever box is in great condition. The 14kt. #2 Waterman nib is a wet and glassy smooth F (0.4mm) that flexes all the way up to 1.9mm. This nib is on the stiffer end of super flex, but when you factor in the line variation and it’s responsiveness it is still a very nice flex nib. It’s a great every day writer with nice flex.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped (Not including Ring Top)

Wahl-Eversharp Doric #3 Adjustable Nib – Super Flex (SOLD)

IMG_5775

Wahl-Eversharp Doric #3 Adjustable Nib – Super Flex – (On Ebay)

Here is a pretty little 1st generation Wahl-Everhsharp Doric in Ladies size. It is in “Morocco” (red/ruby swirl). The pen does have some flaws. There is some light scratching and perhaps teeth marks throughout the pen. Nothing severe, but you can see them. There is also a small 3mm crack on the lip of the cap going up to the band. The band has stopped it from spreading and will likely continue to do so. There is some brassing on the band and some small spots of brassing on the clip and lever. The two tone 14kt. #3 adjustable nib is in a nib/feed unit that unscrews from the section (very nice for cleaning pen). When adjusted to flex, the nib has a quite easy and springy flex up to 1.7mm. These nib units do not allow for a lot of adjustment, so the feed is a bit further forward than I like it. The result is that unless your careful, the feed will hit the paper when flexing which causes some streaks. Still it’s a great little pen.

SIZE:  4 3/8″ Capped

NIB: Wahl-Eversharp #3 Adjustible, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.7mm),  SUPER FLEX  (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Body buffed for scratches
  • Body and trim cleaned and polished

Parker Duofold Junior (SOLD)

IMG_5802

Parker Duofold Junior  – (On Ebay)

This a very nice Parker Duofold in Junior size. It is in great condition. The barrel has faded to more of an olive green, but the cap still has great color. The black hard rubber top and end cap as still shiny black. The gold filled trim looks excellent. The ring around the top of the cap that holds the clip has some brassing, and there is a spot of brassing on the ball of the clip (but I needed magnification to see it). Imprint is good. The body looks great with no scratches. teeth marks, cracks, etc. The 14kt. Parker Duofold nib has a serial number on it dating the pen I believe to the early 1930s (’31-’32). It writes as a smooth and wet F. Lovely example of a Parker Duofold.

NIB: Parker Duofold 14kt., F

Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex! (SOLD)

IMG_5668 Wahl-Eversharp Skyline – Super Flex – (On Ebay) Here is a beautiful Wahl Eversharp Skyline. It’s standard size and has the green pin stripe cap with black body. The gold filled trim on the cap has very little plate loss. There is a little plate loss on the lever (see pic). The cap does have a few nicks in it (see pic). And the body does have some typical light scratching, but I have buffed and polished a lot of it out. It’s a very classy looking pen. The 14kt. Eversharp nib is a great flex nib. It has a huge flex range going from F (0.4mm) all the way up to 2.3mm! It writes as a smooth F but isn’t overly wet. A great pen.

Mabie Todd Swan – Wet Noodle (SOLD)

IMG_5474

Mabie Todd Swan- Wet Noodle (On Ebay)

Here is a made in New York Mabie Todd “Swan” eyedropper with an over/under feed. The BCHR is faded on one side of the pen to a more olive brown color. The other side has much less fading and is almost black. Chasing and imprints are all very good. The nib is very, very flexible. This has paintbrush or near paintbrush ease of flex. It’s flexible enough that it is not very easy to control. There was a nick on to the iridium on the right tine. There is still tipping left but not a ton and it did require some smoothing out. This is  very fun pen to do some flex writing with.
