Waterman 54 Stub SOLD

IMG_3204

Waterma 54 Stub- Semi/ Medium Flex (On Ebay)

This pen is lovely to behold. It does have some browning, but it is uniform and not very drastic. It actually looks like a deep, chocolate brown pen. It is smooth with no original chasing. The imprints are very crisp. There is a little brassing on the edges of the gold band on the cap, but the clip and lever are great condition. They look silky, golden smooth. The only let down on this pen is that the iridium was missing when I received it. I have ground it to a 0.9mm italic stub that writes wet and buttery smooth with pretty decent line variation. It does have some flex as well. It falls right in between what I would consider “semi” and “medium” flex.

Waterman 12 1/2 Eyedropper – Super Flex SOLD

IMG_3193

Waterma 12 1/2 Eyedropper – Super Flex (On Ebay)

This neat little pen is in superb condition. The cap is shiny black with no signs of wear to the chasing. The barrel does have a bit of browning and little wear to the chasing. Imprint on the side is crisp. The “12 1/2” a little less so, but still easily readable. There are a few typical teeth marks on the section from where previous owners unscrewed the pen with their teeth. The clip has very little plating, though it does look like it was originally put on slightly crooked. But all in all, this does NOT look like a hundred year old pen. I will say that this pen is not for the big handed. It has quite a thin profile, and if skinny pens bother you this probably isn’t your thing. The nib has good flex ranging from XF (0.3mm) to BB (1.6mm) and with pretty good responsiveness. If you don’t have a 12 1/2 in your collection, this will make a nice piece. Or if you just want a nice, smallish flex pen, this is perfect for you as well.

SIZE:  4 5/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.6mm,  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Eyedropper

CONDITION: Excellent

Restration Work:

  • Pen thoroughly cleaned & flushed
  • Nib polished and tuned to write smoothly
  • Nib and feed cleaned and adjusted for optimal flow
  • Clip cleaned and polished
  • Test driven for a week to insure quality

Waterman 52 Stub – SuperFlex SOLD

IMG_3184

Waterma 52 Stub Nib- Super Flex (On Ebay)

This is a gorgeous Waterman 52 with nice gold filled trim. It does have some browning as seen in the pictures. There is a a bit brassing on the edges of the band, and some on the lever and clip. Chasing is pretty worn. Imprints are visible but worn. The “52” is still pretty crisp. The nib is beautiful as you can see. Very soft 0.7mm italic stub. The flex is extremely smooth and quite easy giving you a variation up to BBB. This is a very nice daily writing pen. It looks like luxury pen, the italic adds flair to your writing, and gives you some nice flex with ease.

Waterman 14 Oblique Stub – SUPER FLEX SOLD

IMG_3095

Waterman 14 Eyedropper with Oblique Stub – SUPER FLEX (On Ebay)

Here is a pretty interesting pen. It’s a fine italic oblique stub with super flex capabilities ranging from Fine Italic to BBB (0.7mm to 1.9mm). And since it is a stub you can actually get much better line variation depending on the angle you write with. This very lovely oblique stub is smooth and pretty crisp. It does take a bit to get used to. The pen also comes with the original Waterman box. It has very little overall browning of the hard rubber body and little bit of wear on the clip. There are some teeth marks on the section where someone tried to open it with their teeth. There is also a crack in the bottom of the cap. Imprint on side is very clear. Number imprint on back is readable but worn. It is a smooth body. No chasing. The stub can easily be used as a daily writer and will give your writing some flair. Not to mention great flex capability.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

Parker Duofold Red Flat Top SOLD

IMG_3139

Parker Duofold Flat top with “Christmas Tree Feed” (On Ebay)

This is a “Red” Parker Duofold with a “Christmas Tree feed” dating it probably to the early 1930s. It has a firm XF Parker Duofold nib that is plenty wet. The pen is in very good condition. It has a bit of brassing on the ball part of the clip. The ring from the clip around the top of the cap also has some brassing. There is a hairline crack around the bottom of the crack that I almost missed. A lovely example of these old, durable, and well built Parker pens.

Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top – Good Flex SOLD

IMG_3149

Wahl Gold Filled Ring Top – Good Flex (On Ebay)

I love these little ring tops. They wear so amazingly well. Durability AND phenomenal portability with a fantastic nib by a maker who really knew what they were doing. This little beauty packs a punch with some very good flex. The Wahl #2 nib does have a “wrinkle” in one of the tines from I don’t know what. I can tell you this, though, it’s been a there a long time because the sweet of the nib now matches the slightly altered shape of it. It writes beautifully, very smoothly, and even “sings” (if you know what I mean). It was my favorite daily writer when I had it in my rotation because of the joy of the nib. I did not notice any alteration in the nib as I flexed it. It actually has pretty good responsiveness. There is some wear on the gold at the front and end of the barrel where the cap over the years has worn it down a bit. Also the lever does not quite rest flush in the barrel. Finally, in certain light, if you look close, and on a night of a crescent moon (ok not the moon part) the the barrel is slightly more yellow than the cap. Other than that, this pen is in very good condition.

SIZE:  3 1/2″ Capped

NIB: Wahl #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.0mm,  GOOD FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Body thoroughly polished with jeweler’s cloth.
  • Nib polished. Already wrote fantastically.

Waterman 52 – Good Flex SOLD

IMG_3152

Waterma 52- Good Flex (On Ebay)

This pretty nice Waterman 52 with nickel lever and “clip cap” clip is in good condition. There is a bit of wear on the clip that you see upon close inspection, and even less on the lever. It has some typical browning of the black hard rubber. The chasing is pretty worn. The imprints can be seen and read, but are fairly worn as well. There are also a few scratches here and there on the pen. Still a beautiful pen for as old as it is. It has the original Ideal #2 14kt. nib that is an XF (0.3mm) with flex ranging to BB (1.0mm). For those who only judge flex by line variation might wonder how this gets a “good flex” rating. The reason is that the flexing comes fairly easily and the responsiveness of the nib makes some good flex writing come pretty easy. The nib is wet and you won’t ever have to worry about railroading. Overall, a very nice flex pen.

SIZE:  5 1/4″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, XF to BB (0.3mm-1.0mm,  GOOD FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 3V – SUPER FLEX SOLD

IMG_3079

Waterman 3V – SUPER FLEX (SOLD)

This pretty little Waterman 3V is made of beautiful green agate celluloid. The pen is in excellent condition except that the clip was broken off at some point. I have filed the jagged remains so that it just looks like a silver ring on top of a clip less cap. The real star of the pen is the nib, which is a F to M (0.5mm) Super Flex nib that writes with extremely good wetness. Honestly, the flex on it might be even bigger, but it has one issue. There is a dent in the nib on the right tine. This is not due to a “sprung” nib, as there are abrasions on the top of it that make it look like something was dropped on it. The dent does not appear to effect the performance of the nib, but it has kept me within the “very safe” range of the nib in it’s flexing. So I’m calling it a 0.5mm to 1.5mm Super flex. Lever is in excellent condition and imprints are all very clear with little to no wear. A great little pen that is a nice size when posted.

NIB: Waterman #2, F/M to BB (0.5mm-1.5mm),  SUPER FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Waterman 12 PSF – Good Flex SOLD

IMG_3067

Waterman 12 PSF – Good Flex (SOLD)

The 12 PSF was the  predecessor to Waterman 52. It is essentially a 52 but before Waterman standardized it’s numbering system, which would put it pre-1917. It’s is a nice looking pen with a couple of caveats. There is some browning on the pen as the photos indicate as well as brassing on the gold band and clip. A tiny bit on the lever. The pen also has a slight bend in it near the end of the barrel. It’s hard to capture in a photo, but it’s more obvious when you post the cap (which I hate doing on 52’s anyway as it makes just too long of a pen). There also two tiny cracks in the bottom of the cap. The 14kt. gold Waterman #2 nib writes nice with good flex. The line variation is not immense, but what it has is achievable with ease. The nib writes smoothly. The imprint on the back is very clear, though the one on the side can only partly be seen. It has the initials M.G.H. imprinted on the side.

SIZE:  5 1/8″ Capped

NIB: Waterman #2, F to BB (0.4mm-1.3mm,  GOOD FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

Diamond Point – Medium Flex SOLD

IMG_3047

Diamond Point – MediumFlex (On Ebay)

This Diamond Point celluloid pen has a smooth F (o.4mm) 14kt. nib with medium flex. It has a pretty neat transparent section that makes keeping track of ink in the pen a cinch. For example, in picture you can see that the ink is almost out. The gold trim is all plated and it’s almost entirely worn off. There is also a bit of a bulge around the lever due probably to being left in the sun. It’s not significant, but you can see it.

SIZE:  5″ Capped

NIB: Warranted 14kt. #8, F to BB (0.4mm-1.3mm),  Medium FLEX (See “Grading Flex Nibs” for How I Grade)

FILLING: Lever

  • Pen (barrel, section, nib, feed, & cap) thoroughly cleaned & flushed
